Spice shelf - make do and mend project

BEFORE

My spice shelves just looked so messy to me.
I had some of the Starbucks bottles left from Nina's party so I started with those.
I painted the lids cherry red with a can of spray paint in the cabinet.
Then I printed off some free labels from

I just printed them on regular paper, cut them out with scissors and glued them on with glue sticks. You could certainly use a cutter, sticker paper, pre-made labels - all kinds of ways to be more high-tech. There are also many free printable labels on line, just look around until you find ones than suit you.
AFTER
I also had a dozen tiny 4 ounce canning jars. I used them and the labels in their package to hold the smaller spices.
labels on top - easy to read
a few of the spices needed to be shaker jars so I re-used some of the original plastic containers with shaker tops. I covered them with red paper and added labels.

This is an idea I will be using in my kitchen as we have used every penny so far in sorting out the house move, gee never knew you could be this broke and still have a roof lol.

  9. Hello there Rhonda, I'm greatly impressed with your starbucks bottle makeover, what a fantastic idea to paint the bottle tops in a colourful cherry red.

A spice cupboard to be proud of.

  11. This is great! I love those bottles...too bad we cannot get them here. I hate my spices being in all different containers too. I have a special spice cupboard above my stove top. I have never found bottles to fit yet as they are small. Painting all the lids in red was a great idea as well as the printed labels.

  13. Hi Rhonda, I love the "stuff" that you do. You have provided inspiration to do more "stuff".
I do stuff, and it tends to be more outside of the house, so your "stuff" ideas will provide a great balance for me. Thank you. Cheers, Vic

  14. I love this idea! And I am totally stealing it! I keep jars and bottles anyway. I don't really ever have a purpose for them when I keep them, but I always assume a purpose will present itself eventually. Tada! In comes Rhonda with a fun spice cabinet re-do. Yay!
