Morning doings

I baked a New York Crumb Cake for breakfast, it was delicious and this home smelled so good for awhile. Recipe.  I made just a half recipe today and baked it in a 8 by 8 inch square dish.
But it doesn't smell good anymore! I am using this time without the grand babies here to do some home keeping,
There is vinegar running through both brewers to remove the lime deposits.  That smells pretty strong.

And since that smells bad, this seemed like a good time to run the self cleaning cycle on the oven.
The oven was overdue for a cleaning do it may be a few hours before I can turn it off.

It may smell bad for awhile, but I will be happy the clean results from both tasks.
The laundry is going, I hope to clean the floors and I already cleaned both bathrooms.

If the smells get to me, I will go outside and do some much needed trimming of the rose bushes and move some bulbs.

Anyone else cleaning today?

  1. Definitely cleaning today too. I have a friend coming over today and our house needs a bit of help :) Luckily, it's not too bad and I should be done within an hour.

  2. Aw-w- you make me feel guilty! Although things aren't too bad, but I'd rather be in the sewing room. First, I'm going to clean up some brush in the yard and pick up pecans.

  5. Yesterday was my day to clean the bath and run the laundry. I think I could do floors every day. Phew! Vinegar and the oven at the same time. You are very brave. :)

  7. No cleaning for me today. I'm having a lazy day - didn't sleep well and don' t feel motivated to do much. I did go outside and pulled my row covers over my veggies since were supposed to have a freeze tonight. I need to do that to my coffee maker as well...maybe tomorrow.

I'm going to make some coffee in a few minutes and a piece of that coffee cake would be great! :)

  11. I cleaned the bead board behind my kitchen counter and sprayed my over the stove microwave/exhaust fan with a mild degreaser and washed it down. As soon as my black eyed peas and pinto beans that I am planning on freezing instead of buying expensive canned beans and peas, I am going to clean the oven. I wait for a chilly day and the heat from that helps to keep the house warm!
    Happy cleaning!

  13. Your coffee cake looks delicious! My coffee maker is overdue for a vinegar cleaning - thanks for the reminder. I also need to clean my oven. That's been on my to-do list for a little while. I was waiting until this colder weather so that I could crack the kitchen window to let the "smell" out.
