Passing on traditions

Granddaughter Elizabeth was here on Monday, partly because her school was cancelled for snow and also to visit my parents who were here for 4 days.
We needed another treat so I mixed up cinnamon roll dough in the bread machine. Then Elizabeth helped roll out and fill the cinnamon rolls. This photo is while we frosted them.

Elizabeth likes to say "getting messy is the funnest part of cooking"
She didn't learn that from me, I am mostly a neat cook. But cooking easy things like cinnamon rolls with little ones is especially fun.
I plan on doing it anytime we can. Childhood goes so so fast.

  1. It does go so fast! So nice you had time with your cute granddaughter and your parents. The cinnamon rolls look yummy. They were a favorite with my boys when they were younger. I still love them.

  2. And suddenly she's looking all grown up! What a beautiful girl she is.

We haven't had cinnamon rolls since Christmas. They sound SO good!

Rhonda,...the big kids shopped in my overflow pantry last week when they were here....and they had fun taking whatever they please. Almost everything was half off due to dented cans, etc. and my grocery had just restocked the clearance shelf before I got there. I helped myself to quite a lot of it! haha.

  6. I think cinnamon rolls is the perfect thing to cook with kids. So many adults don't realize how easy homemade breads are to make, and if a child helps make them, they don't get the idea that it is hard to do.

  7. Oh my...Elizabeth is growing up! She is really a young lady now. It seems only yesterday that she was born. How fun that you are spending time teaching her things in the kitchen. They are lessons that she will never forget.

  8. She looks so cute here. Little ones do love to cook and bake ...I usually ask mine if he 'wants to make a mess with Oma? " LOL and he sure does! :)
