The last month or so............

edited - so many typos!

Hello everyone
I didn’t mean to take a month off from blogging.  We are all fine and I’ll show you some of the things we’ve been up

Our new puppy Ducky is growing and we enjoy him so much.  He had a few health problems when we got him but those have cleared up.
We think he is cute as can be ❤️

I have slowed down on couponing, partly because of winter weather and mostly because we are just stocked up from previous couponing deals.  And that is a good situation to have.
I only went to CVS once, and that was because some of my Extracarebucks were going to expire.

Below - I got 4 boxes of Lipton black tea- my favorite
Physicians formula foundation
2 bags of popcorn for grands to snack on
2 bags of cashews

After coupons and Extracarebucks, I spent $3.84 cash and saved 91% 😍
I left with a $7 extracarebuck for future deals.

I went to 1 thrift store this month.
I bought this brand new Brighton bag for $3. It almost matches our breakfast nook curtains.

The black and white checks are  3 yards of 60 inch wide woven fabric,  I don’t think it’s wool but if feels almost like wool.  $5
The green netting was .25 and I 'll use it to make bathroom scrubbers for cleaning.

One freebie I did and I’m pretty it is still available is for a free glass spray bottle,  handy if you make any homemade cleaners.
I’m pretty sure it is USA only.   Just use the link to sign up,  no payment information is asked for

I never switched our little white tree from winter decorations to Valentines
But I did just change it to St. Patrick’s Day.
I had a few decorations and I printed off a few more free printables found on Pinterest.

It was fun to work with glitter and glue

Our granddaughter’s school was closed for a couple of days because of a gas leak.  She went to work with her dad one day and one day she stayed with us.
She helped grandpa start some seeds for his spring garden.

The biggest thing during the past month was my husband and I flew to California.

We went to see a friend graduate from Marine Corps boot camp.  It was huge ceremony and so special to see all the traditions at MCRD in San Diego.  My husband graduated there in 1975 and went to Recruiters school there in 1986.

We stayed in a beach cottage aboard Camp Pendleton and we spent much of time seeing places where we lived, worked and shopped way back when we were stationed there.

This is a base home we lived in for 3 years.

And another home we were in for 1 year.

There are not many Quonset huts left aboard Camp Pendleton

This was cove, protected by jetties on both sides  just outside our beach cottage

Inside our cottage......

And our view every evening

It’s been a mostly good month ❤️

    1. Thank you Cheryl, it was a wonderful trip.
I don’t plan to do nearly as much shopping this March unless I just see some deals that are too good to miss.

  3. Lucky you to get to go to San Diego! That's my hometown. My husband graduated from MCRD in 1974, served as a Drill Instructor 1978-80, and was stationed at Camp Pendleton when we met in 1987. Our son graduated from MCRD in 2014. Many happy memories there.

    1. It is so beautiful there and such nice weather. The traffic was not our cup of tea and we were happy to leave it.
MCRD is incredible and that parade deck is so huge.
      I’m thankful we could go.

  5. So glad you are okay. I was beginning to wonder if I should make enquiries :-) I know a month flies by no matter what and especially if you've jetted off somewhere. I'm glad you got a chance to revisit some nice memories in San Diego.

  6. Glad you are fine, was a bit concerned when I didn't see any new posts. I was in the Army, and believe it or not--I miss living and working in Quonset huts!

  7. I haven’t commented before but I did miss you, was starting to worry. Looks like a great trip! It was interesting to see the military areas. About that fabric, you probably know this but if you snip off a little piece and set a match to it, if it burns to ash it is a natural fabric, if it just melts it is synthetic. Doesn’t really help with the wool question but at least you will have a starting point. Dale in Vermont

    1. Hello Dale, I knew there was a way to test the fabric but I was going to have to look it up as I didn’t remember. Thank you 😊
Nice to meet you. Dale is one of son's middle name

  8. Oh, that sunset so reminds me of Arizona. The sunsets are beautiful in the Southwest. I enjoyed seeing all of your pictures. The ones of Camp Pendleton were very interesting to me since my son did some contract work out there. I will bet your trip held so many great memories.

I also love the pic of your granddaughter helping her Grandpa plant the seeds.

    1. Hello, the sunsets over the Pacific are just beautiful, and you’re right that they look similar in AZ.
Camp Pendleton is a huge base is there are so many interesting things there. For us, it was better than tourist attractions.

  9. I was wondering where you were, Rhonda! Glad to hear all is OK. Looks like you had a nice time in CA. I went to that web site to order one of the free amber bottles but they are charging shipping and tax which amounts to $7.50, so I backed out. How cute that your granddaughter was helping Grandpa to plant seeds!

I’m sorry the link isn’t 100% free anymore. It’s a really nice brown glass bottle and I think you would of liked one.

  10. I'm glad you had a good trip!

I'm so glad you got your seeds going with the help of such a little cutie! The early ones I planted have come up for the most part, and I've had to transplant some cabbage and broccoli into their own little cells. Soon, I will work on the tomatoes. The peppers are the slowest. What did you guys plant?

Your fabric looks like it will become something lovely. You have a knack with that. I've been able to get a little sewing done this past week, and have more to go.

But my biggest accomplishment this past week was getting a TON of home-school work graded, scored and entered into the girls' grade books. Today there was a big meeting and I turned in what we've done so far. Both my daughter and niece, whom I homeschool, are enrolled in a homeschool diploma program, which means I need to account for the work they have done and in the end, they will graduate from a school with a diploma. My daughter is in her 12th grade year, and my niece has one more year to go. So, I was feeling super pressured to make sure my daughter was on track to graduate. I was pretty sure we were on track, but needed a check-in for my own peace of mind. She is. Whew. I feel lighter than air this afternoon! Now, we need to finish the year, she will be done, and one more year to go for my niece. It won't be a heavy year, either. Things are moving along. It's a nice feeling.

    Have a great week.

    1. Hi Becky, I’m glad you were able to accomplish so much. Getting big jobs done does feel like a weight being lifted!
My husband has unconventional seed planing methods, so far he has 2 kinds of tomatoes, spinach and peppers planted.
