Bargains, packing stuff to donate and a silly boy

I stopped at Goodwill and bought 1 bag of fabric for $4.44

Inside was 2+ yards of the strawberry cotton knit, that I think will make a cute summer top for me.  I like it very much!
3 yards of lightweight green sweater knit that might make a fall top or sweater
The other 2 pieces were strange synthetics I don’t care for and I didn’t keep them.

Walmart has a markdown bread rack.  I always browse it and pick up items I think we would like.
This week I got 2 bags of 6 count bollilos for .59 each and a small pack of Naan for $.80
We’ve always been happy with the quality of this markdown bread.  If we won’t eat it right away,  I freeze it until needed.

I cleaned out unwanted clothes from our closet this week and then took them and donated them.
Instead of putting them in new trash bags to transport, I folded the clothes into stacks and then tied up each stack with some old yarn.
Trash bags are expensive so using yarn saved that money.
And tying them in yarn added a handle to each bundle and made them easy to carry.

This is how I found JackJack when I woke him up from his nap.  That is not how I put him in the bed.
And no, I don’t normally wake up sleeping toddlers but he had slept for several hours and it was time to get his brother from school.

  1. First things first, your grandson is just precious.
I bought naan this week for 3.50. You got a steal there! And thanks for the heads up using yarn to tie clothing donation bundles. It is a stellar idea and I will be using it.

  2. I like your idea of tying up the clothes. Sometimes I use the big bags we get from shopping but other times I have to resort to garbage bags. I'll keep this in mind next time. Kids are so funny and he just looks so precious sleeping. That material does look nice for a blouse. Have a happy Easter!

  5. Great idea to tie the donation items with yarn instead of using trash bags. I love that photo of your sleeping grandchild. I wonder how in the world he got that pillow on his back?!

  6. We buy clearance bread from Walmart all the time. Tonight I'm making garlic bread from 29¢ loaves of French bread. Just make sure to use it or freeze it right away - it will mold quickly. We won't talk about how I know that...

  8. Good idea on tying up the clothes. Your grandson reminds me of my son when he was little--I walked in to find him sleeping underneath a giant stuffed pig one day.

  9. You got a great deal on the fabric! I love the idea of using yarn instead. I usually reuse Walmart sacks or paper grocery bags or the boxes I get from Aldi.
    Be blessed,

  10. Oh I love that strawberry knit, that is too stinkin' cute!! And your grandson's position made me chuckle. Looks like some positions I ended up in as a child!

  11. I love the sleeping little fellow. I miss those days! That strawberry fabric is adorable. You're neater than I am when it comes to donating clothes; I normally just wad everything up and cram as much as I can in a bag. I'll have to try tying things up next times.

  12. You grandson is so cute. He must keep you on your toes. You did great on the bread clearance. I always check the markdown bins. This week I found meat and produce in the mark down bins. That is a great idea tying up the clothes. I usually grab a box from work to take it in. Garbage bags are expensive. I hope you had a wonderful Easter.
