Momma Hydrangea and 5 of her babies
This is our original hydrangea. This is her 4th spring in our flower bed. I did not know how to take care of her until I learned from Manuela
Thank goodness she knows how because I was doing it all wrong, pruning it too much, watering and feeding it too little.
Last summer, this bush sort of collapsed and many of her branches were laying on the ground. So I follower Manuela's tutorial and ended up with 8 baby hydrangea this spring.
And not only did they grow, they are even putting on buds and blooming!
Thank you Manuela!
She has a great post today about her pretty yard. Her's are blooming bigger and sooner because she is in a warmer zone than we are, but mine should be blooming in full just like hers soon.
Notice all the holes in the leaves? Those are all from Oklahoma Spring hail.
This is a Blushing Bride hydrangea and was planted the year Nina and John got married. How sweet that this bush has babies the same year they are will have their first baby too?
I love hydrangeas. They are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteHydrangeas are one of my all time favorites. We planted one several years ago in the garden of the house we previously lived in. It bloomed the first year. After that, nothing. 18 months ago when we moved to our new home we dug the plant up and replanted it here. Last Spring it grew some but no blooms. This year - WOO HOO! - we have buds. I can't wait to see the beautiful flowers it will make.
ReplyDeleteI really want one for my yard. I am going to get a baby from my mother's yard this weekend, I hope.
ReplyDeleteYours are looking so healthy. Manuela's instructions really worked!
They look lovely, Rhonda. Looks like you did a great job! They are such a beautiful flower.
ReplyDeleteRhonda, Hello!
ReplyDeleteComputer got hit by lightening on 4-30 and it is in the shop. Tried ordering a motherboard and it was the wrong one so trying for a refund now. Sure miss checking to see if you posted anything or not daily! GREAT picture of Nina and her hubby. Hope to be back in a couple of weeks.
You did a great job with those! It's so easy isn't it! I really only buy them now if I'm tempted by a new variety!

Hllo Dear Friends,
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite flowers. I didn't know I could do my own starters. How neat. Nina looks so pretty.
Hugs,
Elizabeth
I love hydrangeas, but it's difficult to grow them here. They do have them in the garden center at WM right now, and I am tempted...
ReplyDeleteAnxiously awaiting news of the arrival of the newest member of your family! :o)
I love hydrangeas! I have a pink one by my front door. :)
