Spring Sewing

My sewing machine has been very busy this week. I am tired of wearing blue jeans so much and seeing the whole world wearing blue jeans everywhere. I can't change anyone else, but I want to dress with some more color.
I read on Diane's blog about her plan and progress sewing up 6 pretty spring/summer dresses.
I also get emails from Cath Kidston and just love their floral combinations and how they use red, blue, pink and green together.
So, here is what I came up with to improve my spring wardrobe.....

McCalls 5198 - yes, this bag is as big as it looks!

Polka dot apron

3 finished dresses - the same old Simplicity 5767 pattern, but with 3 different necklines

white eyelet at the sweetheart neckline

scalloped neckline on the white with pink flowers

I had a package of vintage rick rack to trim this mostly red one.

  1. Oh Rhonda! Those are so cute! I love the red and blue one.. it looks so vintage-y. The fabric reminds me very much of those adorable feedsack prints. (I am in love with those old prints and am positively dying to make myself up a dress of one;-))

And you know what... those rose fabrics may well be identical! Wouldn't that be funny! I have the pieces almost all cut out to make a dress of that fabric- same pattern as my green dotted dress.

    Good work girlie!

  5. Love your dresses! The pink floral is gorgeous! You left a comment on my waistband skirt tutorial asking how wide to buy the elastic, I bought either 1 1/2 inch or 2 inch wide and it turned out way cute!

  6. Gosh! You really have been keeping that sewing maching humming! Still not sewing here. I have been spending all my time working in the yard lately. I seem to put all my energy into one thing at a time! What I'd like to do is get some things started in the sewing room that I can sit down to without having to think a whole lot about it. 75% of the project is the planning and figuring out! I'm ready to make some quilts and still haven't made myself a new pocketbook.

    Good Job Rhonda!

  7. Lovely additions to your wardrobe. I need to find a bag and a summer dress pattern, so when I find fabric I can just whip them up. I love your colors as well. Your apron is just too cute!
