Saturday Yard Sale finds

I only went to one sale this weekend, and it was right in my little neighborhood.

The biggest thing I bought was this solid oak little cabinet/side table made by Lane. It has a wheat design on the front door.

lots of storage inside and a little pull out shelf for sitting a drink on

and a magazine rack on the back.
I am pretty sure I have seen a table just like this before, maybe my grandparents or maybe one of my aunts or uncles had one, if my Mom remembers, I think she will leave me comment.

a little compact with 2 mirrors inside - I've already tucked this into my purse
2 glass things with metal tops - they are really cute and look old, but I don't know what they are, anyone know?

a ring holder - I've misplaced my rings too many times, maybe this will help me keep track.

some vintage kitchen towels - 5 towels, 2 dishcloths

a huge green table cloth and 6 fancy white napkins

long mirror
8x10 frame
a big summer handbag
cosmetic bag
spool of jute twine

and 2 vintage dresses - they are very cute and well made, but no where near my size - not sure what I will do with them but I may try to resell them.

Nothing at this sale had prices on it but I knew the man was selling things low. When I asked about my pile of purchases, he said $10. I told him I thought that was too low but he said he was just trying to get rid of stuff.

  1. My usual comment to you Rhonda, GREAT finds! My g'ma use to have a glass thing like that with a metal top and it was a hummingbird design and she was told it was to put potpurri (sp. wrong) in. The dried kind. I have always wondered what my aunt did with it when she cleaned the house out?!?!?!?

  8. You found some really neat stuff!! Those glass things with decorative metal tops are, I believe, for putting potpourri in. :) Have a great weekend!

  10. I agree with the potpouri idea. If you buy those scented glad rocks you could use them for that too.

  12. Those dishes are for holding dried potpourri. I had one that was similar, many years ago.

  13. Your Mom does not remember any of our family having the Lane piece of furniture. Cleta could have as she was wild about anything with a wheat design since she married a wheat farmer. Goodness gracious, you surely do find great stuff! I think all your readers are right about the little glass containers.

  14. Another comment from your Mom. I cross stitched nearly the same design on a brown checked dress made in the popular gathered skirt on the bodice. Of course, those were the days when my waist was way smaller than it is now. Loved that dress - but do not know what happened to it. It seems like I cut the skirt off to save all the pretty embrodiery - don't know where it is either.

  16. I have one of these little tables, only ours is cherry finish. We have it sitting between our chairs in the bedroom. We really enjoy ours. I think we bought it about 13 years ago.
