use your gadgets

To go with Sunday lunch,  I baked cornbread muffins in some miniature muffin pans that have been gathering dust in the cookie sheet drawers.
The tiny cornbreads were so popular,  I used those mini-muffin pans again today
and baked mini blueberry muffins with scrambled eggs for our breakfast.

The blueberry muffins were just as yummy and cute as the cornbread muffins.

I am going to look around my kitchen and pull out some other kitchen items I have not used lately.

Do you have any kitchen gadgets you  have not used in a long time?

first round of breakfast eaters at Cafe Rhonda -
my parents were here for several days but left to go back to TX this morning.

Gavin and Amanda ate here too but they get here later than Nina and Elizabeth do.

 Toddler fun

G and E had fun playing ring around a rosie this morning,  you can see in the last photo that they really like the  all fall down part.

  1. I've been trying to make it a point to use the stuff I have in my kitchen, either for variety of meals and flavors, or just for looks. I broke out the cast iron divided cornbread pan over the weekend to make polenta. I thought it would be convenient to have it baked into wedges so I wouldn't have to try to cut the stuff. It worked... mostly. That pan isn't seasoned as well as the others, so everything stuck. I think I might just stick to cornbread with it.

Now that you mention it, though, I haven't used my mini muffin tin in ages upon ages. I used to use it to make mini quiches for my lunches. They're great for portion control, as long as you hide extras. ;-)

  3. "Cafe Rhonda" :) You should get a little sign with that on it, Rhonda. Your cute little muffins looks so good - filled with lots of blueberry goodness. Your family seems to have had a wonderful time together and the pics of G & E made me smile.

  4. I have an old cornbread cast-iron pan that is shaped like little corns that I have only used a couple of times. I do love it and have it out for show sometimes. I used most everything else fairly often. I'm like you, I cook a lot.
Your little grands are growing up so fast, E does not look like a baby anymore. So sad how fast they grow and change, for me anyways, because I don't see my younger ones but every six months.

  6. How nice to see your mom again Rhonda! It is fun that she is able to come up often and visit you. Humm...kitchen gadgets are pretty much used here since I had to clear out what I do not use when we moved. I have however not made muffins in a long time again so might just do that this week.

Thank you so much for the compliment that you could understand the crochet shoe mat instructions. You write them not knowing for sure that others will understand what you are saying but your comment made me feel certain people should be able to follow them.

    Hugs from Holland ~
