My grandtoddlers wear bibs at our house pretty much anytime they eat anything, I don't like them wearing dirty clothes and bibs are much easier to take off than to change into a clean outfit.
Their other batch of bibs were getting rather worn so I sewed up a new batch.
the bird print is my favorite |
For the pattern, I traced around a bib we already had, then since my tracing was not as straight as it could be, I just cut it out about 1/2 inch away from the tracing line.

I used a couple yards of a retro fabric bought at a thrift store a few years ago.
Blogs are like diaries, I just did a search and found exactly when it was purchased from an old blog post of mine.
If you are curious, you can read it on this link.
I fussy cut each bib so I could center these fun animals on each one. And I ended up with 9 nice size bibs. |
Those are just darling! That fabric is perfect!
ReplyDeleteThank you Betsy, My Aunt Ann likes to say things are darling, you just gave me a sweet memory of her.
DeleteWonderful bibs and I LOVE that fabric. Bummed that you picked it up at a thrift store, for me at least. How fun for the kids to pick out a different one each day.
ReplyDeleteblessings, jilly
Hi Jilly, this fabric is so cute and quirky, it is too bad it not being made anymore. It did not have any markings on the selvage so I don't even know how to look it up on Ebay and see if any more is available.
DeleteSuch cute bibs!! I keep my grands in bibs as well when they are around, somebody is always teething or eating it seems. I like the idea of the button, for now the velcro works best for me as they tend to grab each other by the bibs sometimes when they don't share nicely! HA
ReplyDeleteOh Debby, I know just what you mean. Thankfully 99% of the time, G and E don't act out toward each other. But you never can predict what toddlers will do, do you?
DeleteThose bibs are wonderful! Rhonda, you did such a great job on these. I'm sure they love the fun little animals. How nice that you can help raise them, they are blessed little tikes and you will always have a closer relationship with them because of the time you've spent with them.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cindy
thank you Cindy, I am following you on Pinterest and enjoy looking at your pins. When I saw the natural colored dining chair with the slipcover with ruffles down the back, I knew it was perfect for you, have you got plans to make it?
DeleteCute! We go through bibs around here too...:-) Haven't tried buttons but I do like bibs with snaps rather than velcro. They can rip the velcro ones right off their necks, plus the reasons you mentioned with washing!
ReplyDeleteMary Ann, I like snaps too but I just don't seem to be great at attaching the ones with the gun. And I don't like sewing on the other kind.
DeleteWhich kind do you use?
I love the fabric! Buttons have never crossed my mind. I'll have to add buttons to the bibs that I have. ~A great idea! Thanks
ReplyDeleteHi Lori, I like that retro fabric so much too, too bad it is not still available. I like the buttons very much, especially for toddlers.
DeleteThe bibs are adorable but so are G & E in them! :-)

ReplyDeleteHi Sue, thank you for the compliments, I am blushing :)
DeleteI've been to your blog, all your needlework is just amazing.
Oh my goodness!! I want to make bibs now!!! How fun!!! How sweet those grands look in them!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Val, with all the gifts you make, bibs would be a piece of cake for you. They are fun to make and sew up fast.
DeleteThose bibs are the cutest! Thanks for the tip on liking the buttons better than velcro. I hope to have a reason to make these one day. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon, I hope you have a reason to make some bibs in the future too :)
DeleteSo stinking cute! Love the material.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan - so nice to hear from you, is it about time for your spring break?
