We have been blessed with 5 grandchildren in 4 years.
I have sewn lots of bibs for them. I found where I had blogged about some of them and had fun reminiscing about them.
I used flannel scraps from the last burp cloth project for most of them. The yellow and white ones are made from a never used Carter's reversible blanket that was just too small to wrap JJ.
I've used Velcro and ties and buttons to fasten bibs over the years. All have good and bad points.
For most of these, I used sew on snaps. I'll let you all know how we like that method.
You can sew them in your sleep huh? So pretty.
ReplyDeletealmost Lana!
DeleteSo cute! Let us know how you like the sew-on snaps. I really prefer bibs with snaps--they last longer and are harder to pull off than Velcro. But I have lots of trouble getting my snaps to stay in long-term with my snap fastener.
ReplyDeleteI like how velcro is adjustable and easy to fasten, but I don't like how it gets full of lint and string and ick during the laundry. I have a bunch of vintage metal sew in snaps from my parents and I hope they work out. I'll let you know!
DeleteThey are all so cute...but I love the retro ones the best. I agree with Lana, you must be able to make these in your sleep. I will certainly turn to you if and when we EVER have grandkids. Although maybe it will be like you, 5 in 4 years. My mom had one grandkid every 7 years. The great grandkids are coming about every two years, she is not happy, and it makes us all laugh. She said she can not spoil them as much.
ReplyDeleteblessings, jilly
Hi Jilly, I have to admit that the first 2 grands got lots more pictures taken of them, more toys from us grandparents,etc- than the next 3. We love them all but it is just different with more babies and less time. Your mom was kind of right
DeleteAww Rhonda! I remember the posts of your bibs over the years. How lucky the grands are to have you making them such sweet bibs. You need to open an Etsy shop and sell them!
ReplyDeleteyes, Susan, in our spare time, we should both open Etsy shops :)
DeleteI've been wanting to make some bibs and now that little Eli is here, I have a reason to. Also, there are always baby showers to sew for.
ReplyDeleteLove ALL your bibs!
thank you Debbie, I have sewn many bibs for baby gifts over the years. I like to make a few burp cloths and make matching bibs from the scraps. Not that the burp cloth needs to match the bib but they look nice together as a gift.
