Hello readers, this is my kitchen. I cook a lot and my kitchen is set up now to be convenient for cooking, whether it is just for myself and my husband and also for when there may be a dozen of us here.
Welcome!
Welcome!
This shows one side of the kitchen.
We still are enjoying the coffee bar we added when we moved over the fridge.
The other side of the kitchen. Dishes, glasses and cups are in the top cabinets, Tupperware is in the bottom cabinets. One drawer is for silverware and the other is a bit of junk drawer.
This kitchen sink is funny to me how it sits on angle, like the dining room. The kitchen is right beside our living room. I can't really look out a window while I do dishes but I can watch my husbands giant tv. Can you see it mounted over the fireplace?
I have quite a bit of vintage Pyrex. I have this upper cabinet full of pieces I use regularly.

More is displayed on the tops of the upper cabinet. I swap them around every so often.
This kitchen has TWO pantries, and it is one of the features that sold me on this house. One pantry hols mostly food.

The other holds appliances, cleaners, bottled drinks, and a little junk.
This room is actually the breakfast room but I've turned it into more kitchen space, it holds a smaller 2nd fridge, a chest freezer, a little armoire that holds cookbooks inside with the bread machine and toaster oven on top.

My grandmother in law had this desk in her farm house kitchen and now it is in my kitchen. One drawer holds my planning spiral notebook, where I write out my to do list, budget plans, menus, etc. Another drawer holds coupon supplements.
Thank you for stopping by today
coming up- the living room and the last bedroom
I love your kitchen Rhonda, and I love the pyrex!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Aggie! I like it too and it sees lots of cooking
DeleteWhat a fabulous kitchen! I know you know how lucky you are to have TWO pantries!! I really love that you're using the eat in space as an extension of your kitchen. What I wouldn't give to have my chest freezer upstairs.Love it!
ReplyDeleteManuela- thank you!
Deletewe tried having the extra fridge and freezer in the garage but we also park in our garage and it was not convenient to move a car to get in the fridge.
It is so hot here in the summer and appliances that stay in a hot garage use a lot more power to keep cool. So having them in the climate controlled house is cheaper for the utility bills too.
Flashing your Purex I see. LOL I didn't realize your kitchen was so big. I love that you have arranged it to suit yourself. We tried to hide everything during our simplifying, but it just did not work for me and my back. I hung the pots up on one wall, and that alone has saved me much in bending over.
ReplyDeleteblessings, jill
Hi Jilly, by some standards, my kitchen is big but the new houses I've seen have even bigger kitchens. This one is big enough for me but I am envious when I see the new big kitchens that all seem to have 8-10 foot islands in them.
DeleteI do keep lots behind doors. I've even tried leaving that space on top of all the upper cabinets bare but that just looked too bare.
I know what you mean about those lower cabinets being hard on your back!
Even Martha Stewart says to set your kitchen up to be productive, organized and efficient...because it's a work room! And you've done just that. I love all of your counter space....something my kitchen really lacks. It's nice and organized...and of course, I love your vintage Pyrex!
ReplyDeleteBetsy, I did know Martha says that but she is right. I do have lots of counter space but it really fills up when I am cooking- you know how that goes.
DeleteI've wondered if you see much Pyrex at your auctions?
Love the coffee bar and the Pyrex. I am really envious of the pantries. I could really get comfortable in your kitchen!
ReplyDeleteThank you Donna, I feel bad showing off both pantries but I just enjoy them so much!
DeleteI love your kitchen and am envious of your pantries! I don't even have one! Beautiful collection of Pyrex you have, too. And your grandma's desk is a gorgeous piece of furniture.
ReplyDeleteMelanie, but you DO have a basement, unlike 97% of us Okies that live in the tornado corridor. Most of Pyrex is either family hand me downs, thrift store finds before it got so popular and my family has gifted it to me at recent holidays too.
DeleteWhat a GREAT kitchen!! I could move right in and be at home. I have pantry envy, would so love a place to put all those big kitchen must have's. Ahh, Grandmothers desk, be still my heart. Your kitchen like ours looks to be the heart of the home
ReplyDeleteThank you Debby, I do enjoy my kitchen and pretty much have room for everything.
DeleteTwo pantries... that would have sold me too! You are making great use of your space.
ReplyDeleteLove the pyrex pieces. I think of you every time I see some at a sale or on ebay. Love the desk and it fits so nicely there.
ReplyDeleteI have 1 pantry but a second one would be nice. TFS!
I love the pyrex and the pantries!
ReplyDeleteI really like that diagonal sink...and having two pantries is a wonderful bonus.
ReplyDeleteAnd then there is that Pyrex...what a beautiful and colorful collection you have! :)
Love your home. The pyrex looks great displayed like that.
ReplyDeleteHi Rhonda, I love your kitchen, it's large and set up very nicely. I would like the sink like that, mine looks into the eating area and that's nice, but to see into the living room would be wonderful, tool. How lucky that you have two pantries! With those grands underfoot so much of the time, I'm sure you need all of the space. Your old desk is beautiful! Enjoy your weekend ahead!!
ReplyDeleteLovely. I would sure love one pantry let alone too. I'm envious ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove the pantry!!
ReplyDeleteI collect vintage Pyrex as well and like you I use it. No point in having it if you don't. I love it. Charming, pretty, functional and sure beats plastic containers. Enjoying your blog!
ReplyDeleteI love your vintage Pyrex and that little armoire! Also what a treasure to have your grandmother-in-laws desk! Sounds like a perfect little 'office' space too!
ReplyDeleteI love the pyrex. Just looking at brings back memories for me. Isn't it wonderful when you have an efficient kitchen? Yours is terrific.
ReplyDeleteI love this tour! It is so nice to see your kitchen. It looks very loved. (Those curtains are charming!) I also enjoyed seeing your living room, and the baking you do!

The Legacy of Home
I had tons of vintage Pyrex , but when I started my minimalist journey, I got rid of most of it except some of the blue, which I love! They're not worth much, but always pretty.
