Spring Fever

Does anyone in North America not have spring fever? It's been a long hard winter and I am sure glad it is spring.  This is our weather forecast, and I must brag on Oklahoma meteorologists,  I think they are very accurate, maybe the best in the world. I don't always like their forecasts but they are very dependable.

With this warm forecast, I think it is probably safe to let my tomato and zinnia seeds move out of their egg shells and be transplanted into pots outside.

The cherry tomato plants are in these big planters, outside but also sheltered by the pergola roof. When they are bigger, we will move the pots into full sun. For now, they will be protected from any heavy rain we might get.
Zinnias are now in these pots, and for now, right beside the house for a little extra warmth and protection.

For thrift and cuteness, I really like using egg shells for the starting pots.

Still in the house, are some tiny petunias and moss rose growing in more eggs. I am also going to start some heirloom tomato seeds I bought in Branson.

What is your weather like?  I hope winter is finally over for everyone!

  2. Here in southern Indiana, it's still cold and wet, but the forecast for the next 10 days shows no below freezing temps. I was hoping to get out to the garden today, but it rained all night and most of the day so it's pretty soggy. That's ok. We had a neighbor, an elderly man, years ago that told me that if I planted as late as June 1st I could still have a good garden. Surely am looking forward to gardening!

  3. I would love that forecast! The next five days we will be in the low 60's with the lowest temp 37*. Whoo hoo nothing below freezing finally! We had snow in the forecast for today. Thankfully there was only rain.

  5. Tomorrow will be warm, then lower your temps by about 30°, add rain, and you have the rest of our week. No planting for us for several weeks yet. Bummer. I will enjoy watching yours grow, though! :)

  6. You have warmer temps for Spring. Sadly they haven't arrived in my corner of the world-yet. I hope soon. Enjoy your garden.

  7. Not us quite yet! We had sleet and snow today...temps in the high 20's, low 30's. But I'm still fine with it, believe it or not! Ohio weather is kind of like that.

  14. We had snow the other morning...a warm up now but who knows how long it will last.

I want to start seeds outside too soon but am just going to hold off a wee bit more until I see if the weather stops going back and forth so much.
