CVS, the weather, a little cooking, etc;

I think it's been 2 weeks since I shopped at CVS.  We stopped this morning on our way to church and I am happy with my deals.

I spent $20.06 cash, got back $13 in Extra Care Bucks and according to my receipt, I saved 73%.

I think I showed is before but this is how I plan and keep track of the deals I want to do.  I cut each item from the sale circular and stick them to sheet of notebook paper.  Then I paperclip the matching coupons to it.
It is just quicker than writing it all out and I don't have to page through the circular while I shop to make sure I have the deal right.

We had a fierce wind and rain storm come through very early Friday morning.  Our home and yard were not damaged but a lot of trees in the area broke.

This is a very large trampoline that was moved and fell on top of a 6 foot privacy fence in a yard 2 blocks from us.

Remember that $2 shower curtain from my thrift store visit?  It looks great in my parents bathroom.

I tried making pretzel rolls for the first time.  I used a recipe and tips found on the King Arthur Flour site.  They tasted really good but I followed their advice about not making them too thick.  Mine turned out too thin to use for hotdog and burger buns.   We liked them and I will try again and if they are more successful, I'll let you all know.

Our chicken and noodles did turn out just right and I will post how I do them (as requested) very soon!
I will share my recipe but you'll have to find your own little helper :)

  1. I'd bet that helper is the reason for your success!
Great idea for keeping up with coupons and sales.

    1. Sometimes my "helpers" lead to success but sometimes we just make an Oops. They all love to help in the kitchen, especially if it involves dumping things into a bowl, stirring or rolling.

  2. I think you got some awesome savings in your shopping. That shampoo and antiperspirant would last me at least 3 years. Do you use it all yourself or give to family and friends? We too had a rainstorm here about 2 weeks ago and were without power for a day. Some homes were without power for much longer. Good thing no trees fell on your house or car. I think that $2 shower curtain looks fabulous and your cooking experiments sound like they are going well. I see your hot dog and hamburger buns. They look thick enough for me. I don't like "thick" breads so much. Your little helper looks like he is a great little helper too!

    1. Hi Joyful, I have a small stockpile and I share with my family, especially my children. I've donated some too.
Thank you for the compliments :)

  3. Wow what great savings at CVS! I love the way you keep tabs on the coupons and sale ads.
Those noodles do look good. I've been buying Amish noodles but I couldn't find them the last time. It will be great to see your recipe. Have a great night!

    1. Thank you Vickie, it is just easier to me to have the specific deals in one place. Cvs deals can be tricky and having it written out just helps with getting it right.

I'll share my recipe in a couple days, it is very simple.

  4. Great idea to cut out the item you want from the ad. I can't tell you how many times I have stood in the store looking through the ad for an item. Great tip!

  5. So glad you are OK and your home didn't get any damage. The storm only made it to us this morning and so grateful for the rain...the wind not so much.

  6. Hi Rhonda,
Living on Montana's eastern prairie I can relate to the wind damage, so glad to hear your home and auto(s) were spared.
As much as we love living in a very rural area, I do miss the great sale opportunities and shopping varieties one can find in metropolitan areas - the nearest CVS is 184 miles (one-way) from us.
I'm ready for canning season to be over so I'll have more time to make bread again. Although Mr.B prefers store bought, I and the kids prefer home made.
Your helper is adorable ... what fun you must have with him and all your other grands.

    Blessings to you & yours,
    Mrs.B

  7. Glad you didn't get any damage. My sister had a storm go thru last Thursday night (about 25 minutes west of me) while she was at work and it took her power meter off the house and big limbs down.

  8. Will be waiting your noodle recipe---cute helper! Love your deals at CVS. Guess I just don't know how to work it all-don't go often.

  9. Good work Rhonda, on both the savings and the cooking (and op shopping) I love your little Superman.
I had a good week. The weather has been beautiful. I am spring cleaning my little heart out. If it's not nailed down its getting washed!
    Have a great week,move Annabel.xxx
