June 4- A little sewing, some thrift purchases, a recipe and an Oops!

Hello everyone.  I sewed up another tissue box cover and put it on the hall end table.
When a cold or allergy attacks are going around all our little grands,  we use a lot of tissues!

Mrs. B, @ Her Peculiar Life I think these would be great secret sister gifts and they are very quick and easy to sew up.

My son and I shopped at a couple thrift stores today.
He found a nice leather belt but I didn't get a photo.
I got 4 name brand golf shirts for my husband, $4 each.  They are all in brand new condition, except the Polo brand one.  It is very good condition and I know he will like the color.

I'm not sure where I will put this skinny owl lamp but at $3, I knew I would regret not buying it.
It looks a little crooked in this photo but it's not.

There were a group of here for supper last night.
I made this Peach Crisp recipe for dessert.
It's a recipe I copied down years ago and have made many times since.
It makes a lot of servings and is nice to take to pot luck type meals.
I've always used canned peaches but I think thawed frozen peaches would work great and might be more economical than canned peaches.

The oops - I put ingredients in the automatic bread machine to bake a loaf of bread and never did check it during the 4 hour cycle.....apparently I did NOT add the yeast.......
So instead of a nice loaf of light bread,  I found a bread rock 🙁

And just a bit of bragging- 7 year old Gavin colored this tiger and I think he has a very good eye for color.

Have a good rest of the weekend, everyone!

  2. Good Morning Mrs. Rhonda,

Thank you for the mention and link in your post today - that is so kind.

Regarding the bread dough, I had to laugh as it reminded me of the afternoon I became distracted while my bread dough was rising. HOURS later I returned to the kitchen to find it has overflowed the bowl, overflowed the counter and slid down the cupboard doors onto the floor. - LOL - I was immediately reminded of an "I Love Lucy" program where she baked a loaf of bread that grew so large it came out of the oven and across her kitchen. We all have "Lucy" moments don't we?

Thanks for sharing the peach crisp recipe.

Hoping you have a blessed day,
    Mrs.B

  5. I think we all have those oops moments. As a new bride my father-in-law was coming over to help with something. I volunteered to make breakfast. I ended up adding sugar instead of salt to the gravy. I was super embarassed! To this day my fil teases me about my sausage gravy. Thankfully he has sat at my table many times since then without complaint!

  6. I think anyone who bakes has "created" very different product at some time or another. Luckily I have managed to make just about every mistake possible so maybe I won't have to make them again!

  7. I had to laugh at your bread rock. We got a bread machine as a wedding gift. I was super excited about trying it out. The first time I used it, I couldn't figure out why it didn't mix/knead. Then I discovered that I hadn't put the dough hook thing in. It worked much better the next time with all the parts in place. Ha! Those things happen!

  8. Oh dear on the bread...must be a cook's thing this week. Sam was talking to me as he made bread dough and talking about how great the dough looked then looked at me and said "I. forgot. the. yeast..." lol He was able to adjust the dough.

  10. Wow, your budding artist did a great job of colouring. I have goofed once or twice in making a loaf of bread. I'm sure we have much more company :-) I like your finds. I think the polo shirts were a great buy.

  11. The bread rock made me chuckle. I forgot eggs in the instant pot a few weeks ago. That was a nasty smelling mess. Ugh.
I should cover our Kleenex box. They're on the kitchen counter year round.
Gavin's got a very sweet colorful tiger going on there!
