Flexible cooking and just a little CVS

Hello all.  I haven't blog in so long so I'll just jump in with the most recent things.

Today, no grands are here and I've been cleaning and scratch cooking.  I'm cooking a 7 pound chicken in my big crockpot and I made a batch of homemade noodles.  This will make lots of food- we can eat, share and maybe freeze some.

Yesterday was a different kind of day.  Our 15 month old grandson was with us and he was not in a happy mood.  So, for an easy supper, I baked a new product, Freezer To Plate.  It was so easy! Just put the box ingredients, water and chicken pieces in a baking pan, cover and bake.
It is low calorie, very easy cleanup and comes in 4 flavors.  I bought ours at a military commissary but my daughter said she saw them at Walmart.   There are $1 coupons for this on Coupons.com and in this past Sunday's paper.
I've only tried this flavor and it's good.  My husband and I both liked it.

One of the best things about living now is we can be flexible and have choices about so many things.  We can do slow cooking when we choose or we can still serve our family good food with easy products.

This week is a good week at CVS.  I've made 2 trips and this is most of what I bought but some candy, drinks, deodorants and granola bars have already been consumed or shared and aren't in the photo.
I think I spent $24 cash with lots of coupons and cvs deals. And I have $31 in ExtraCareBucks for next week.

It is finally starting to cool off so I may think about doing some fall decorating soon.
But I shook my head when I saw a home in my neighborhood already decorated for Halloween. 😱 seems a bit early to me..................

  1. We don't have a CVS, but I'm always amazed at how much people get there. How does it work? Do you spend the Extra Care Bucks like cash?

    1. I don't make homemade noodles often as they are time consuming, I let my mixer knead the dough today and that was a big help.

  3. I will have to look for that product at our local Walmart. Can you do a post on how you make your homemade noodles? I have never made them and really want to try my hand at it. Thank you!

  4. Sometimes you have to go with quick and easy, especially when you have a cranky baby in the house! Haven't made homemade noodles in ages. Seems like such a nice Fall-ish thing to do.

  5. I'm glad you got your make ahead cooking done the day before the little grandson came. Sometimes it's all we can do is just love on them. It makes them feel good and us too! Great deal at CVS!

  7. Hi Rhonda!
Yes, it is so nice we live in a time where we can make choices. I'll have to look for those Freezer to Plate meals next trip to the Commissary. Some days its great to have those stand by type of meals.
I bet your homemade noodles are delicious. I make them once and awhile, but haven't done so in ages.
Great deals at CVS ~ I have that Gloss shampoo from Loreal and love it!
    Hugs))

  8. Hello Mrs. Rhonda,

It sounds like you all have been very busy. Our weather is beginning to cool off also. I hung my autumn wreaths out on my doors yesterday. I haven't put my other exterior autumn décor out as we still have blooms on our potted flowers. I am hoping for 2-3 more weeks of above 40 degrees nighttime temps. but, I won't hold my breath.
    Blessings,
    Mrs.B

  9. Yum on the homemade noodles. Yes, they are time consuming. Especially compared to dumping a package into boiling water. :) The temps are starting to cool down here also. It makes me happy, happy, happy! There is a house on my daily drive to school that is all decked out for Halloween. I agree it is a little early for that. Good to see a post from your!
