A little sick here, a lot of sick there, sick everywhere

There is a stomach bug going around our area that seems to be visiting almost everyone. Some people are just sick a couple days.  Others are sick for a week.   And after the bug seems to be gone, it sometimes comes back.
All our grands have had it.  Some of their parents have had it.  My dad was so sick, he needed rehydration by IV at the emergency room.  My husband and I had a short-lived bout with it.

Some school districts have closed.

Anyway,  I am really concerned about it and did some research,

This one really has lots of points that I never thought of.  I had no idea this bug could be contagious so long.

There are also lots of natural ways to help with this bug on Pinterest.

I hope none of you are dealing with this but if you are,  some of this might help.

We had some lemon lime soda, jello, Gatorade, bananas, rice and saltine crackers on hand before we got sick.  We sure appreciated having these things here and not having to ask for help.  I will be restocking those things very soon - just in case!

No,  I have not been sick the entire time since I last posted, and I will have a more normal post soon.

  2. It's at our house here in Ga, too. At least, sore throats, fever, chills, sniffles, ect. Not much stomach stuff, yet. Ds did throw up once, the first day. I guess this is our yearly winter sickness. I'm praying it passes soon (Dh and I have it as well). Hope you are better asap!

  3. It seems to be everywhere. It has been running through Megan's school. One Friday they had 7 teachers out sick. It was a rough day for them! Hope all of you are over this yuck soon!

  4. I'm sorry to hear everyone in your family has been sick. Me, Brian and Tim have all been fine this winter, not even a cold, but we're never around little kids either. I hope your family is back to good health soon!

  5. Sorry to read abut the flu going around your home. Hope your dad is doing better. The grandkids had it, so we are steering clear of them for the past few weeks. Guess it was particularly nasty this year. We've been practically quarantining ourselves to avoid it. Hope you all will get well soon and stay well!

    Hugs

  6. How hard could it be to invent a vaccine for this nasty bug?

Whenever I see school kids waiting for the bus I always tell them to have a good day and to wash their hands thoroughly!

Hope your Dad can get some much needed rest.

  9. I hear it's rampant in our area of Georgia, as well. Makes me want to be a hermit until about May. Here's hoping you don't get another round of it!

  10. The flu has really hit a lot of people. Some of our school districts have closed here too. The grands are getting over it now. We have cancelled plans to go to the mall playground because we are worried about so many germs. We stayed home and played with them yesterday.

  11. Hope you feel better. We rarely get sick unless hubby travels as work from home. I try and steer clear of eating out, I think people pick up more bugs that way than they realize

  12. We have been trying to avoid it. No fast food or restaurant food. Hand sanitizer in the car immediately after going to any stores. It's the cough-y, fever, sick, pneumonia causing flu here around St Louis, Missouri.

  13. When I was going in for breathing treatments for my pneumonia, my doc said they were seeing about 5 different illnesses. The stomach one she mentioned was Novavirus, I think it was called. I hate stomach bugs. I think it's been about 20 yrs. since I've had one.
    I just cursed myself, didn't I?!

I hope you're feeling better and I'm looking forward to a new post!

  15. Hope all of you feel better soon. I work at a vet clinic and we're seeing sick animals come in with this too. The flu is one that we can give to our pets. The best way to clean this virus is 16oz of water and a 1/2 tsp of bleach, that's all that's needed. I have asthma and can use this mild solution without problems, most people use too much bleach. And of course hand washing is the best. Everyone take care!

  16. We keep Tummy Soothe from Hopewell Oils .com on hand. 3 drops in 3 oz water taken internally for children and 5 drops for adults will kill just about anything. That can be repeated every 30 minutes if needed but one dose generally takes care of it. It is good to have something on hand so that we do not have to deal with stomach bugs. You can even take it before the vomiting starts and it is over.

    1. One other thing to note, stay away from sugary drinks with a stomach bug. The sugar just feeds the bacteria or virus. Sticking with water alone will help end the bug quicker.
