Quarantine update #9 - because I may be a bit crazy 😜

This week, I planned to redo the shelf paper and declutter and deep clean my kitchen.  I started it yesterday evening.
Then I got frustrated with Walmart grocery pickup because so many items (and items I’m wanting) are not listed on their app.
So I left this morning with my mask and gloves and sanitizer and went to a Neighborhood Walmart. - yes, Right in the middle of a strewn out kitchen!
I could tell by the parking lot it wasn’t too busy.  I was able to go right in,  no line to stand in to enter, and did my shopping.
I wasn’t looking to buy meat and it’s a good thing as the meat counter was almost empty.  So was canned soup.
But I did find dry beans, rice, cereal, bread, toilet paper, flour, sugar, rubbing alcohol- all things that I haven’t bought in a month because I’ve done all my grocery shopping on Walmart pickup but those things couldn’t be bought there.
On some items like flour and toilet paper, it asked customers to only buy 1.
Many customers wore masks and gloves though they are not mandatory in Oklahoma.
Every shopper I saw was just a single shopper,  no families hanging out together as they shopped.  Everyone was keeping their distance from each other too.

And yes,  I took all shopping precautions as suggested by the medical people in the know.

Below is my kitchen- torn apart

And the dining table covered with kitchen stuff and today’s groceries.

I don’t think I’ll get done today,  but hopefully it will be done tomorrow.  But who knows?

Nobody is coming over so those piles can wait.

Are y’all doing similar projects?

❤️ Rhonda

  1. Well I'm going shopping tomorrow morning so I spent a good chunk of the day going through the fridge - consolidating, reorganizing & either freezing or cooking items that were getting close to past their best. I'm about to go through the freezer to take out a few things that are already cooked and can be used over the next few days so that there will be room for new items - I hope to pick up some chicken and pork chops.
I have no idea what will be available tomorrow - the limits seem to be on things like Lysol Wipes & bleach - TP seems to be back to normal and the last time I was in there was a decent stock of everything else - but - it all depends on when the delivery trucks actually arrive so I'll just have to wait and see.
I know what I want but I'm prepared to adjust if needed. I'm not desperate for anything but would like to stock up a bit now as our lockdown has just been extended for another 28 days. The most important things on the list are some fresh fruit & veg, especially salad greens and tomatoes.

  2. I've done more in the way of sorting through and cleaning out my house in the last few weeks than I thought possible!

  3. Rhonda, good job finding stuff. Allen went to Aldis today and got fruit and veggies. Produce (green peppers and such) hard to come by. As is soups, pasta and meats. Along with TP and wipes. I have the stuff to make some so will see.
I am off tomorrow and would like to clean some stuff but will see. Lots to do in 1 one. I made us all one mask the other day but Teigan have to measure her. I am placing my first Wal-Mart pickup order tomorrow so will see. Jaymee has been using it over a year and loves it.

  4. Your project looks like it is coming along! Glad you found the basics at the store. I have been using Instacart delivery from Publix, Aldi, and once Costco. Usually I can get 1 pkg. of TP from Aldi, but nope---not yesterday. Also not romaine lettuce. Disturbing to me is how the farmers are dumping milk and leaving fresh veggies to rot, as schools and restaurants are no longer ordering. So sad! They can't even give it away to food pantries it seems.

Stay positive...we're ALL in this together...

  5. You're all talking about deep cleaning and decluttering, and I am trying to do the same here, but with a complication--I am still working for one of my declutter and downsize clients, and this weekend we are going to go pick up another load of things from him, furniture, dΓ©cor, etc, and I will have to store it all on my patio until further notice, because none of my regular places are accepting donations right now. I am not enjoying this job--at ALL, and I usually love to do a declutter and downsize job.

  6. It sounds like Walmart is limiting what they are selling through the grocery pickup. I noticed that most of the items I buy are not on there any more; which makes me have to go and shop. And it's not that they don't have the items, they do and are in stock. I've not been able to use the pick up since February. I can't wait until this mess is over with, so I can order online again.

My husband has one of those wagon/carts for hauling photography equipment for location shoots. I have never thought about using it to bring in the groceries, but I can remedy that next week when I go shopping. :)

  7. I'm glad you were able to get Everything you wanted. Sometimes we just need to shop and you took all the precautions so that's good. I
Someday soon our kitchens will look normal.

  10. I got my tupperware cabinet cleaned out and organized, and will be working on my craft room this week. I am going to go to Michael's for some organization cubes and re-do my whole space and make myself a work surface instead of having to drag everything to the kitchen table. I think all of us have the organizing bug!

  11. Greg is back to work full-time today - yea! The past couple of weeks have been him in the hospital and then adjusting to things at home. He's doing great now, though, so no worries.
Anyway, with all that, and having the grands as well as helping homeschool, I haven't done much for house projects during this time. The weather is looking good for the long-term finally, so we can work outside as well, and I have a long list. Lol. Today Layla helped me sort a kitchen drawer as part of her preschool lesson, and Silas jumped right in to help as soon as he was done with his school meeting. We got to sort and clean three drawers before lunch, so I felt the day was productive.
We just got online grocery ordering/pickup at our local Walmart and I got an order on Saturday afternoon. So far I've been able to get everything, or a reasonable substitution.
