August #4- a good and productive day

Hello everyone
Grandchildren were here during the week so not much housework was done,  but today had no commitments so first thing this morning,  I picked up a grocery order at Walmart.
Then I came home, put away the groceries and got laundry started.
Next errand was to the bank drive through for some cash and then I browsed at Dollar Tree and made another stop at Walmart for a few things I forgot to put on my pickup order.

Breakfast was leftover biscuits with turkey sausage
Lunch was sandwiches with lettuce and garden tomatoes
Supper was crockpot roast, potatoes and carrots and corn on the cob and watermelon πŸ‰

Husband mowed the yard.

Inside, I cleaned our home from one end to the other.  I didn’t take before photos but I did take afters.

And because I’m noisy and like to peek in other homes,  I’ll show you our home

Master bath

Master bedroom - and Ducky got a bath today at home

Laundry room - all the baskets are empty except for a few kitchen towels

Dining room  - there is a jigsaw puzzle in progress on one end of the table.  A granddaughter started it and she asked me to leave it until she comes back,  so I will.

Breakfast room

Kitchen

Kitchen pantry

Living room  -my husband is reading while we waited for church to start - we like a service from Australia and their Sunday morning is our Saturday evening.

Guest room and food storage room
I may of gotten a bit carried away with food stocking up, time will tell,

Grandchildren room

Hall

Hall bath

Back bedroom with my craft-sewing stuff

And the other side has a desktop and the gravity hanger thingy for my husband’s bad back

Hope you enjoyed touring our comfortable home-
It feels really good to be going into a new week with a clean home.

  1. You have lots or food, but not too much. Anything in a box should be put into a plastic bag and left in the freezer for at least three days in order to kill bugs or their eggs which come into the house in the packages. Your house certainly looks clean and neat. Good job!

  3. Dear Rhonda,
Your home is so tidy and welcoming! Thank you for the tour. I really enjoyed it 😊 I love your bathroom window and shaped windows. You watch an Australian church? That is lovely to hear. Makes me feel connected to the world. I am Australian 😊 Keep well and safe there.
    Love, Kaye xo

    1. Hello Kaye, nice to meet you. We watch Chancellor Park Community Church in Sippy Downs. The lead pastor is American and was our daughter’s youth pastor and everyone else is Australian, We started watching their service back in March when the shutdowns started. It’s truly become part of our routine now.

  5. I can't believe how much you did in a day! Your home is lovely! I am inspired to give mine a good clean- it has been hit or miss lately. I am with you on your food storage though I have nowhere near your amount.

  6. Everything is so lovely. Love the black and white checks.
You can't have too much food stocked - you will use it.
    Have a great weekend

  7. So beautiful! I wish I could get rid of a bunch of stuff and make my house tidy! I’ve been here 21 years and I’m still amazed at how much stuff we’ve accumulated. You’ve done a great job!

  8. Rhonda, you have a lovely home...as others have said! Thank you for the tour. You DID have a very productive day...so much accomplished. Bet it felt great!

You were my inspiration on the food storage in the guest bedroom. I took over a large closet in my guest room and made it into a back up pantry as well. I don't think you can have too much. I rotate things--it will all get eaten for sure. Hope we don't need the massive amounts stored---but I am thinking I will now always have this. I learned that 'you just never know'. I was so shocked when some things became unavailable. I don't remember that ever in my lifetime.

Do you follow Annabell at Bluebirds are Nesting...she lives in Australia, and her last few posts have been alarming. You might enjoy her ways of doing things. I learn so much. I am not a canning/dehydrating person anymore, but I buy the cans and jars someone else produced at the grocery store! :)

  9. It all looks neat as a pin! As for overstocking on food, I don't think you can be at this time...I know that you, like myself, often supply family members, too, so naturally your stockpile would look heavier than someone who simply provided for two.
I've just put my own house to rights, after our morning out at church and am glad to face a new week with a clean, neat home.

  10. I love all the black and white checks. I have always loved gingham. Any color will do. Love the plastic lace in the pantry. I think you are going to be glad you have that food storage.

  11. I'm prioritizing cleaning from one end to the other this week. It's been a long time...
I've known you so long that I can pick out photos of your kitchen without being told whose it is.
I love having our dining table extended all the time - we, too, leave projects on one end and use the other end for meals.

  12. I really enjoyed your house tour. I was particularly inspired by your neat and orderly pantry. I've been thinking for a while now I needed to do something with mine so after seeing your post, I got up and got busy. Among the mess and disorganization in mine were some items hanging too far over the edge on the uppermost shelf. I was a little nervous about one of those things falling off, hitting me in the head and possibly knocking me out. It would be days before anyone found me. (Just kidding, the worst I would've gotten would've been a small knot on my head.) I've also found some items I didn't know were in there. Anyway, I just got started and am feeling better already! Thanks for sharing!

  17. Loved your house tour! Your home is beautiful. I think we have the same countertops! What color are they? Mine are a mauvy shade of pink from the early 90's. Need to update before my husband retires next year.
