October #1 - home updates and grandchildren fun

Hello everyone
Welcome to our front porch, all decked out for fall.  My husband bought the mums.
My son bought the pumpkins and we filled them with the succulents that grew like crazy on our patio this summer.
The white pumpkins went to his home and he arranged the orange ones at our front door.

Our interior re-do is still in progress.
There’s a pretty new rug in our entry way and that will give a clue to the home style I’m working toward.

We are waiting on the new carpet to be installed and have those 3 bedrooms and hall emptied and their contents are pretty much living in our dining room for now.
The new furniture has been ordered and most of it is in boxes in my husband's shop.
Some of the new curtains are here and some are backordered.  I went with insulated  ones from the Vermont Country Store and I think we are really going to enjoy them.
Once it’s all done,  there will be more to show but for now,  this  house is anything but normal.  πŸ€ͺ

Some of the grands have been here.
These guys were very happy to get crocheted toys from my mom,  their great grandmother.

Braeden is missing his top front teeth.  Gavin is wearing a mask just because it was a new mask.

Most falls, we make acorns out of mini Nilla Wafers, Kisses, chocolate chips and chocolate frosting to hold them together.
All the local grands made them but they weren’t here at the same time and I didn’t get a photo when the countryboys were here,
Here are the city cousins very happily making and eating acorns

I hope you all are enjoying fall and making the best of it as possible.

  3. Thank you for the fun acorn snack idea. Our bigger grands live in another state and if we go out for Thanksgiving, we'll have a craft. I'll try to do it with the local Littles. 3.5, 2.5 & 18 months. that should be "fun." ;) At least stick & delicious.

  5. Brilliant idea putting the succulents inside pumpkins! When the pumpkins rot will you bring the succulents inside for the winter?

Your porch is wonderful, and very inviting!

Am sure you are looking forward to the home update being completed. I just can't get motivated to do that!

Cute and yummy project with the grandchildren. Did the cookies all get eaten while making?? :)

    1. I don’t plan to keep succulents inside over the winter. They’ve gotten big and straggly. So I think I will just start fresh come next summer.
I am very much looking forward to the house being fixed up and done but we talked to Lowe’s and it’s gonna be at least a week before the carpet is laid.
The children made the acorns in small batches, about 6 each, and they have ate everyone they made.

  6. We did the acorn snack activity years ago - before Layla was born, so it might be time to do it again. That would be a fun activity for our family chat. We're doing Thanksgiving dinner together in November, so maybe then.
Painting always turns a house topsy-turvy, doesn't it? I'm still working on the kitchen...

  8. I'll have to look for mini nilla wafers and do that with the boys. I was going to do fall sugar cookies with them today but wasn't up for that...Fortunately they didn't know I had had plans and they were just as happy with the rice krispie treats I made them today.

  9. Those pumpkin planters are cute as can be. Reminds me I need to get around to repotting some outside plants so I can bring them inside before cold weather gets here.
