Giveaway for the start of this blog, my next big project and a gift idea

First I want to thank you all who have visited my new blog and left such nice comments. I promised some giveaways in my first post so here is the first one.
I love to enter other blog giveaways but I don't like to jump through a bunch of hoops to do it, so all I ask is that for an entry, just leave a comment on any post and every comment is an entry. And if you are a follower or talk about this blog anywhere, just tell me so and and each will get you another entry.
I'll draw a winner on Tuesday night, Dec. 8th.
And if you don't have a blog, please leave me a good way to get in contact with if you win.

the prizes are a small Pampered Chef bar board size cutting board
a set of Paula Deen chicken measuring spoons
and a knee-length apron sewn my me - red calico with 2 pockets

Here is my next project to conquer - I got down all the Christmas decorations from the attic and the craft room closet. I've been thinking about how I want to decorate this year and I have some ideas floating around. I prefer to think about a big job for a bit before I jump right in. Usually if I think it through, I can come up with a good way to do it and sometimes save some steps.

Last week, there was a free book offer at PhotoWorks.
The freebie blogs were saying it was taking a long to make them but I tried it with some old black and white photos of my parents and grandparents. It took me about an hour and was totally free with that offer - they are not free anymore but they are 25% off.
The UPS lady brought my book yesterday and it is so nice. The black and white photos look great in the mostly black book I selected. The original pictures were all tiny - less than 3 inch squares for most of them - so it is great to see them enlarged.
So if you are needing a gift for a grandparent this Christmas, a photo book from old black and whites would probably be really appreciated by them.

this is the cover of my book - my grandparents all dressed up

This is Uncle Bill, Grandma and my mom sitting on her lap.

  2. Rhonda,
I know your new site will be great, so looking forward to watching it. Your give-away prizes are nice. Love the apron made by you.

The picture book would make a very nice gift.

I haven't finished this years gifts for people and thinking of next year already!

  3. I'm enjoying your new site - great giveaway! I am a subscriber through Google Reader - does that count as following? I'm like you; I don't like to have to do 15 things to enter a giveaway.

I wish I had known about that free book when it was offered. I have quite a few black and white pics and other old pics of my mother, who passed away when I was 16. That would have been a great way to save some of those pictures. I'll have to go look at the site and see how the prices are; it may be something I want to do anyway.

  7. I love giveaways, thank you!

I ordered the book and some cards for free from Photoworks too.

Last year, I made one book of my grandparents and gave it to my mom. She bawled and said that it was the best gift ever. This year, I got one for my dad of his parents, let's hope he likes it.

  8. Love the new blog...I still have this motto posted on my bulletin board and sometimes when I'm procrastinating, I look up and see it and think "Get busy!" It's kept me on my toes. Love the photo of you and your mom. It's a great vintage looking photo.

Terrific giveaway too. Please enter me for the drawing.

  12. Oh, Rhonda, your new blog surely brings to mind some happy times and I remember your first birthday in Hooks, Texas. You are so adorable in the sweet apron (think that is still around here somewhere). And the cover on your album showing my Mama and Daddy brings tears. And the times my little brother and myself sat on Mama's lap were very often even though we were teased endlessly by our four older siblings! I'm glad the fabric from my stash is finally being put to use for an apron - I need those red Paula Deen chicken measuring spoons - you know my fondness of chickens. Dear daughter, I love you - you will never know how special your new blog is to your mother or "Mama" as you once called me...

  14. I'm still waiting on my photo album. I've gotten 3 apology emails about it taking so long (heck, I only ordered it on Thanksgiving day- not so long!), which impressed me!

  17. I am excited to see what you are going to do for Christmas decorating Rhonda! I just started mine yesterday. We can get those picture books made here too. A friend does them regularly. I love this one with the old B&W photos. I love the old photos anyway especially the one of you and your mother on your header. Tell your mother hi from me when you talk to her next time. I hope she will still try to enter my giveaway which will also continue this week on TCC.

    Hugs and happy Sunday ~
    Heidi
