January 5 - things at home

Hello everyone
I didn’t post over the weekend as we did nothing that was blog-interesting.  My husband has been having lots of knee pain (he will see an orthopedic dr next week) so we sat in the living room, watched church and watched Hallmark mysteries most all of the weekend.

Now,  3 of my grands are here.  Their parents are working and the children have virtual school.

I think the 2 older ones are making pretty good progress and learning a lot even though they’ve only been in school in person  for 20 days since March.
It’s tough for the kindergartner though.
Judging from how many of their classmates are on their zooms,  I’m wondering how much learning is going on for many students.
But Covid is raging in our town,  we know quite a few people with it and some who have just recently got better- I truly don’t know what schools should do but I do think parents need to do all they can as their children’s success is ultimately their responsibility.

Besides school, I’m working on a mountain of laundry but it’s going fast as it’s mostly bedding.
And somehow I got all those shirts ironed too.

I have not yet done my Bible reading as I need some quiet to do it.

Meals while the grands have been here
Supper on Monday- grilled burgers, oven fries and corn
Breakfast was cereal as zooms started early and I couldn’t get breakfast cooked early enough
Lunch was bacon and waffles for the kiddos,  bacon fried rice for the 2 grownups.

Second trip to CVS of 2021

I spent $14.61 on the 4 items in the photo.
I got back a $10 CVS gift card and I still have $3 in CVS BeautyBucks from last week.
I’m happy with it,  all 4 products are large sizes and will last a good while.

I think this post might be as interesting as watching paint dry for some people 🤷🏻‍♀️
Hope you’re all having a good day, whatever you’ve got on your plate to do

❤️Rhonda

  3. Angela, the planner is a Happy Planner from Joann, bought on a very good sale.
The read the Bible in a year plan is by https://teachsundayschool.com/ and goes the Bible chronologically. It costs $1 for the simplest version.

  5. I had to chuckle...I just want to hear about ordinary days sometimes. I've been isolated since February so hearing that everyone else is in the same boat helps me when I can't see anyone.

  6. I love your posts, and find everything you do interesting. I like that you are so involved with your grand kids. I want to be you when I grow up. P.s. I am older than you I am sure.

  7. I am so glad you are able to help out with your grandkids schooling. I, like you, worry about how much the kids have missed. I keep thinking that most students have to be at least a year behind where they should be at this point.

  8. I agree with the others...I cherish the bits and pieces of everyone's ordinary daily life---as we are so isolated these days. Not boring! Reassuring!

Wonderful you can help out with the children...I don't imagine it was "in your plan" but such a blessing you are able to do it.

Sorry about hubby's knee---hope relief comes soon. How did he injure it?

    Hallmark movies we love, too--

  11. "I do think parents need to do all they can as their children’s success is ultimately their responsibility." If I could shout this from the rooftops. Unfortunately, most kids are tremendously behind at this point, especially the younger ones. I work at an elementary school (Pre-K and Kindergarten) and very few actually put in the work. 4-6 year olds are not capable of getting online and completing everything on their own, and parents do not bother with it. I know it is a huge struggle, and I thank grandparents and parents that will actually help their children, because honestly, the school system is at a loss, especially mine. We have tried everything and parents just will not work with their kids. My class has 25 kids, we only have 5 that does anything. I know parents are stressed and I have seen many post online about how it's too stressful and how teachers have it so easy now that they don't have to have kids in the classroom and that is just not accurate at all, teachers are more stressed than ever right now.
