If you can't tell from the photo, these are tiny, maybe 3 - 4 inches tall.
How they survived all us 21 Campbell cousins, I have no idea.
These plastic canvas magnets are made by me. Aunt Bernice had a set and I guess someone made them for her. She let me borrow hers after Thanksgiving, I used hers as a pattern and made my own.
They always remind me of her.
The tiny basket is a souvenir from a tractor show we attended in California and the turkey salt and pepper shakers belonged to my grandmother (and she gave them to my daughter but they like living here, right Nina?)
Now, after this stroll down memory lane, I need to get busy!
We used to have those candles, too. You could buy them at the dime store, as I remember. You can still buy reproductions from Vermont Country Store, but they sure are expensive. Nice to have so many family mementos. Have a nice Thanksgiving!

Thank you Jane. I thought about looking on EBay to buy some candles but I really do enjoy the photos and don't need anymore decorations so I don't plan on buying my own. I do remember these candles were dime store goods- seems like there were Santa and Angel ones too.
DeleteHello Rhonda,
ReplyDeleteThanks you for taking us on a stroll down memory lane. Your Thanksgiving decor is nice and holds a lot of fond memories for you and your family.
Wishing you and yours and very Blessed Thanksgiving,
Mrs.B
Hello Mrs. B, thank you. I enjoyed it too :)
DeleteI love your Holiday decorations! I'm taking a few minutes away from pie making and I had to see how you were doing today. Have a great Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteHi Vickie, thank you! I am touched you wanted to see what I'm doing today, I'm doing a little prep and baking today but will do most of the cooking tomorrow. I'm trying hard to keep everything stress free.
DeleteI love your decor. Happy Thanksgiving to you too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Val, and we did have a happy holiday
DeleteI like your Thanksgiving decorations!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Thank you so much
DeleteI remember little shaped candles. We never burned any. Did you?
ReplyDeleteHi Laura, no I don't remember these littl candles ever burning except if you look close at the picture, you can tell the wicks were light just long enough to not be like new. Aunt Bernice did that to all candles. I don't know her reason but she didn't think it was good to have unused csndles- some old wives tale :)
DeleteI like those candlestick Thanksgiving people and the turkey salt and pepper shakers. When I was young my mom always had neat salt and pepper shakers like the turkey ones you show. I'm not quite sure what happened to them. she must have got rid of a lot of things during a big move one year when I was in 12th grade as they couldn't move everything. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteMaybe somebody like me bought them at her yard sale or at the thrift store where she donated them. :)
DeleteI love the candles! My grandmother had some Thanksgiving and Christmas candles I always enjoyed looking at when I was little. My other grandmother loved plastic canvas crafts and had a ton of little magnets she would make for the shut-ins in her church. After seeing your candlestick people, I'm going to have to search out Leisure Arts and see if I can find a pattern book. I hope you and your family have had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteLori, look on Pinterest for plastic canvas patterns. There are thousands there!
DeleteLove the candles and your decorations! I think my mom had similar candles for Christmas, but they were stored in the attic and melted years ago. :(
ReplyDeleteoooh wonder if we are related? I have Campbell ancestors. :D
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Might be related to you Kathy- but there are lots of Campbell's in this world.
ReplyDeleteI grew up with the Christmas version of those candles and loved them!
