My cousin and my brother posted these 2 photos on Facebook last year of these cute little csndles. My sweet Aunt Bernice put these on the Thanksgiving table every year. Now cousin Carla owns them and she shared 2 with my brother.
If you can't tell from the photo, these are tiny, maybe 3 - 4 inches tall.
How they survived all us 21 Campbell cousins, I have no idea.
My mom crocheted the orange pumpkins.
These plastic canvas magnets are made by me. Aunt Bernice had a set and I guess someone made them for her. She let me borrow hers after Thanksgiving, I used hers as a pattern and made my own.
They always remind me of her.
My candlestick Thanksgiving people, also made by me with plastic canvas.
The tiny basket is a souvenir from a tractor show we attended in California and the turkey salt and pepper shakers belonged to my grandmother (and she gave them to my daughter but they like living here, right Nina?)
And here's my weekly list, just a few days late this week.
Now, after this stroll down memory lane, I need to get busy!
We used to have those candles, too. You could buy them at the dime store, as I remember. You can still buy reproductions from Vermont Country Store, but they sure are expensive. Nice to have so many family mementos. Have a nice Thanksgiving!

Thank you Jane. I thought about looking on EBay to buy some candles but I really do enjoy the photos and don't need anymore decorations so I don't plan on buying my own. I do remember these candles were dime store goods- seems like there were Santa and Angel ones too.

ReplyDeleteHi Laura, no I don't remember these littl candles ever burning except if you look close at the picture, you can tell the wicks were light just long enough to not be like new. Aunt Bernice did that to all candles. I don't know her reason but she didn't think it was good to have unused csndles- some old wives tale :)
DeleteI like those candlestick Thanksgiving people and the turkey salt and pepper shakers. When I was young my mom always had neat salt and pepper shakers like the turkey ones you show. I'm not quite sure what happened to them. she must have got rid of a lot of things during a big move one year when I was in 12th grade as they couldn't move everything. DeleteI love the candles! My grandmother had some Thanksgiving and Christmas candles I always enjoyed looking at when I was little. My other grandmother loved plastic canvas crafts and had a ton of little magnets she would make for the shut-ins in her church. After seeing your candlestick people, I'm going to have to search out Leisure Arts and see if I can find a pattern book. I hope you and your family have had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
