babies, packing up, meal plans and a puppy

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas season.  We sure did.
With all the little grands buzzing around,  everything is exciting and fun.
This is our youngest, baby RJ, 5 months old.  He is quite a little charmer

Now it is time to get our home back in shape and clean again.
I did so many loads of laundry today and cleaned floors.  My husband packed up the outdoor decorations and I've gathered up the decorations used in the house to pack them away.  I didn't put our very many this year.

The circles under baby Jesus are 3 plastic canvas coasters.  I know when I put them out, there were 5.
Oh where could the other 2 be?

It that time of year when everyone makes resolutions.  I'm not sure I'm making any but I do want to get back to living more organized.  One of the main areas is meal planning and preparation.
We've stocked our kitchen with 2 recent commissary trips and I worked today organizing the pantry and freezer.

Below is tonight's supper while I prepared it - a salad big enough for 2 nights
- and salmon patties ready to be mixed together and sautéed.
the tomatoes on the salad are the multi color grape size ones.  They are kind of ugly but taste almost like fresh picked home grown tomatoes.

Below is our January menu- I don't think I will need to cook all these meals and I will just cook them as needed and as they sound good.  But I have all the ingredients to prepare every one  except for needing bell peppers for 1.  Some are recipes I just know and some are recipes I have pinned under cooking on Pinterest.
my plan is to look at this list often and plan ahead and cook these yummy meals as much as possible.

We are getting a new puppy!  She is a boxer-bloodhound mix and in a shelter right now.  We will pick her up next week after she is all fixed and such.
She looks like a sweetheart to me!
We haven't had a pet since we lost our precious Theo 4 years ago but we are ready and anxious for one now.  He was just the best dog that did everything we did and went everywhere with us.
So I hope this puppy will be up for our busy home and all the love she will get from her 8 new cousins
I think we are going to name her "Mabel"

  1. Your grandson is such a cutie! It sounds like you had a lovely (and lively with all those grandkids) Christmas. :) We found out on Christmas that our newest grandchild that is due in May is a little boy named Steven David. That will make 3 grandsons for us and we could not be more thrilled!

How fun to get a new puppy. That Mabel is one lucky little fur baby to be joining your family!

  2. Happy New Year! I love your grandson's picture -so adorable. So is your puppy! It took me awhile to get a new cat too. We still haven't got a dog and it's been 5 years. It takes time. Have a great day!

    1. Thank you. Pet owners seem to either immediately add another pet after a loss or they have to wait a long time. It's hard either way.

  3. What a cute little fella in the first picture, Rhonda. The little pup is cute too. Hope she turns out to be as lovable as your last one. I want to be more organized in the new year too. Making a list of meals you can make from supplies you have on hand is a smart way to go. Happy New Year!

    Hugs
    Jane

    1. Hi Jane and Happy 2017 to you ❤️
We sure hope this new puppy is a sweetheart. That's why we are getting a puppy, in hopes that if she is raised around all our grands, she will, get used to them and love them.

  5. Aw, what an adorable baby and a sweet puppy. I'm sure you are very excited to have a few new pups in your life :-)

I too have taken the decorations down. It is a few days early for me as I usually like to have them up until just after the New Year but this year I won't have time to take them down just then so have done it early.

I've been away for a few days and it's amazing how much cleaning there is to do. I've been mainly working on laundry, lol.

All the very best to you and your family in 2017. You are always so organized and starting the year off just right. xx

  8. RJ is adorable and the sweetest Santa that I have seen! Thanks for sharing your menu plans. I had never heard of egg roll in a bowl. I looked up several recipes and this is something that my family would like. Theo has been gone for 4 years? Wow - how time travels! Mabel is a cutie. I heard on a sitcom in the 80s that Mabel stood for Mothers Always Bring Extra Love! I hope your sweet Mabel brings you extra love as well!!

    1. I live the acronym for Mabel ❤️
Egg roll in a bowl is delicious and easy and cheap. I just sautéed ground beef with onion and grated carrots, then add lots of shredded cabbage, maybe water chestnuts and a good bit of soy sauce. It's good served on top of rice or by itself if your dieting or lowcarbing.

  10. RJ is such a cutie!

Congrats on the January meal plan. A whole month at a time is a real accomplishment.

Hubby packed away the inside decorations yesterday too. But outside ill have to wait until it is 55 outside on Tuesday. It is too cold right now.

Mabel is adorable. I hope you have many years of fun with her.

I wish you, your husband and all of your family a Happy, Healthy New Year.
