Hall bookshelf before above and after below- 2 big brown sacks of books were donated and books from around the house were added to the bookshelf

My craft room looks very lived in as, over the summer, our 2 oldest grands spent a lot of time in there, sometimes making things and sometimes just making messes 🙂 I know they had a great time and I’ll get things back in order before long
Today, I plan on making more progress as I have no need to go anywhere.

Everything looks great. :) I have a difficult time getting rid of books and my bookshelves are taking over. Most of my shelves don't match and are stored everywhere. I would love one day to have someone build matching sets of shelves along one entire wall. That's my dream. ;)
ReplyDeleteMy husband built this 9 foot bookshelf into this odd shape nook in our hallway a few years ago and I am grateful to have it. It is very sturdy and attached so our rambunctious grands won’t topple it.
DeleteHe doesn’t do woodwork often but I’m really glad he built this.
I hope you get the shelves you’d like too.
Just looking at that fabric shelve gives my the terrors. I have a closet full of crap (fabric and projects) to got through. Yikes.

DeleteMost of it is fabric my dad bought at yard sales and fabric my mom downsized when they moved.
A few years ago I was ready to get rid of most of it but my husband talked me out of it as he knows I like to “Make stuff without going shopping”
Okay, Rhonda you need to come deal with my fabric stash but I don't have any shelves YET.and I would LOVE to have a closet for fabric and projects... really I would love to have a closet as there is NONE in this house
DeleteThanks for the pictures of your fabric shelves. I'm now turning a bedroom into a craft/sewing room. I have 12 totes of fabric. I know that I'm going to donate some. But not that much. We have new identical twin great-granddaughters. I just need to finish organizing that room so that I don't feel bad about spending lots of time sewing. Diane

ReplyDeleteI did exactly like you with the books over the summer. I must have gotten rid of at least 100 books but it hardly looks like it since books came out from other nooks and crannies to take their place. I still feel much better for making good progress on my decluttering which is never ending. I do envy you a craft room.

Looks great and I love love love books. I find it is sometimes hard to part with them, even though I probably won't read them again. Your fabric looks great; I need to do the same thing in my sewing room.

ReplyDeleteLittle by little the house is being purged. I just need a week with no husband, grandkids, meals to cook, or other interruptions. Lol.
Yes, no interruptions would help the process. But we both that isn't going to happen for either of us 😍
DeleteHi Rhonda, you would be shocked to see how little my fabric stash is now. I sold $1200 worth on Etsy and gave away tons more and thinking more will go. After buying our home last year I just do not have time for quilting, plus in April we found out that The Dude has cancer. It will be a two-five year road for us. He donated all his William Johnstone books except for the Christmas ones, I was shocked at that. He probably had over 200 of them. Most of my books I donated to our library and many they put in circulation...so I can go visit them, lol.
ReplyDeleteAs they say, cancer changes everything. So much that we thought was important just is not anymore. The Dude has always hung onto stuff because he might need it someday. The plus side to us decluttering....again, is the house is so much easier to clean. We went from 1000 sf. to 1600 sf. and I can still clean the whole house in an hour. The yard is over 8400 sf. nothing gets done in an hour;-)
