Happy New Year from the little statue I found at a thrift store many years ago and from the grandson (who is much bigger now) but was a living clone of that statue for awhile.
2020 was certainly a year of things many of us have never seen and would prefer to not see again.
Who knows what 2021 will bring? I’m optimistic it will be calmer and less stressful but whatever comes, we will do what we have to do, right?
We will eat our traditional New Years Day Black Eyed Peas, with cabbage and rice today.
This morning, I did some of the prep for this meal and for more cooking this week.
Diced onions in jars for later
Diced ham for the peas, diced onions for the peas and cabbage, a bag of chopped cabbage.
We had freezing rain and snow during the night. Thankfully the ice didn’t cause power problems in our town.
Ducky is not a fan of the snow at all. If dogs can give dirty looks, Ducky sure is giving one!
This is not a brand new song but I had never heard it until Sunday when it was sang at the end of a local church service broadcast.
It’s the same tune as Auld Lang Syne but has beautiful Christian lyrics
All Glory Be To Christ
Should nothing of our efforts stand
No legacy survive
Unless the Lord does raise the house
In vain its builders strive
To you who boast tomorrow's gain
Tell me what is your life
A mist that vanishes at dawn
All glory be to Christ
No legacy survive
Unless the Lord does raise the house
In vain its builders strive
To you who boast tomorrow's gain
Tell me what is your life
A mist that vanishes at dawn
All glory be to Christ
All glory be to Christ our King
All glory be to Christ
His rule and reign will ever sing
All glory be to Christ
All glory be to Christ
His rule and reign will ever sing
All glory be to Christ
His will be done
His kingdom come
On earth as is above
Who is Himself our daily bread
Praise Him the Lord of love
Let living water satisfy
The thirsty without price
We'll take a cup of kindness yet
All glory be to Christ
His kingdom come
On earth as is above
Who is Himself our daily bread
Praise Him the Lord of love
Let living water satisfy
The thirsty without price
We'll take a cup of kindness yet
All glory be to Christ
All glory be to Christ our King
All glory be to Christ
His rule and reign will ever sing
All glory be to Christ
All glory be to Christ
His rule and reign will ever sing
All glory be to Christ
When on the day the great I Am
The faithful and the true
The Lamb who was for sinners slain
Is making all things new
Behold our God shall live with us
And be our steadfast light
And we shall ere his people be
All glory be to Christ
The faithful and the true
The Lamb who was for sinners slain
Is making all things new
Behold our God shall live with us
And be our steadfast light
And we shall ere his people be
All glory be to Christ
All glory be to Christ our King
All glory be to Christ
His rule and reign will ever sing
All glory be to Christ
All glory be to Christ
His rule and reign will ever sing
All glory be to Christ
All glory be to Christ our King
All glory be to Christ
His rule and reign will ever sing
All glory be to Christ
His rule and reign will ever sing

The look on your dogs face!! Too funny. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteI made us a nice breakfast, then we went for a 2 mile hike in the State Park. It was snowing when we first got there, which was lovely, but then it turned to ice. We had to walk about another 15 min to get back to our car and the ice was pelting at our faces, but the weird thing was, we really didn't mind. We were kind of laughing about it. It was nice to get home though. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI just finished all the prep work for our dinner (red beans with sausage and rice)...I soaked the red beans overnight and they're now simmering on the stove with onions, peppers, celery and garlic. The house smells so good. I unloaded the dishwasher from last night's food and today's breakfast, now loaded all the dirty prep dishes back in. Once the beans start to simmer, I'm going to indulge in a long, hot bath and then relax and read for awhile in front of the fireplace.
That look that Ducky is giving you is so funny. I've found that some dogs hate snow and others love it. Obviously, Ducky is in the former camp. ;-)
Happy New Year!
Happy new year to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,

That dog's face!!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteI had my black eyed peas and cabbage and corned beef today.
Happy new year!!!!
I remember when you got that statue! Your front room looks so cozy with the fireplace going. Ducky does not look overly happy. We had alittle freezing rain last night. Nice ideal for the feeding mat.
ReplyDeleteTFS your recipe, it does look yummy. I should of looked at computer before shopping this a.m. for groceries. First time in a store since Christmas and I
didn't even go check Christmas sales. If any were left. Besides food I needed a tote and looked for a purse. Saw one I liked but think it was even to big for me. Allen couldn't believe I said that!!!!
I better along and go order some vanilla beans to start some vanilla for 2021 Christmas.
Happy New Year to Jeff and you and the family!
I too remember that little statue and how well your grandson embodied that look!
ReplyDeleteWe don't do the traditional foods on New Year's Day anymore and I miss it! I think next year at least one meal must be either red beans and rice or black eyed peas rice and cabbage. Lanierivester served hers with mac and cheese and it looked so good to me! Of course, I might just be hungry for peas and rice and cabbage. Or for food...I made pizza for the boys for lunch today. We had a grand time 'camping' and we hunted for food and cooked over the pretend campfire and slept in a 'tent'. Funny thing was when I told Josh let's go fishing Isaac looked up and said "But Gamma...I not like pish..." lol I guess their imagination is as good as mine, lol.
HaPPy New Year!!!! Love the song.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
d
Happy New Year to you too Rhonda!
