Mid week catch all post

What have I been up to?
I've been sewing on an American flag inspired quilt that a son requested. His birthday is in April and I hope to have it finished for that.

I also made 1 visit to 1 thrift store.
I got all these nice Oneida spoons and forks for 25 cents each.

I also got this pile of children's clothes- minus 2 pair of jeans that my daughter was so tickled to see as they were like new and fit long legged and slim Elizabeth perfectly.  This pile was surprising as most of the clothes are for the older grands.  Like I mentioned before, the bigger size children's clothes are harder to come by so this was a good buy.

This is an odd fabric product- it feels more like a heavy interfacing than fabric - not sure what I will do with it but I really like the kitchen theme design.  It is 1 yard of 60 inch wide and was 50 cents.

Beside the Valentine family party,  we had another big weekend event.  We went to a gender reveal ultrasound for grand baby #7 who is due late July.
In this photo, the baby is looking right at the camera and has both arms up beside the head.  We also saw a yawn and a thumb suck.  So sweet!

Before we went to the ultrasound, we had lunch with the parents, another aunt and the maternal grandparents.  A friend made these pretty cupcakes with pink and blue mini pacifiers so we could predict what the baby might be.
They were delicious, but most of us were wrong,  we pedicted a boy baby but

It's a girl!
And just what big sister Andie requested.

  1. Your quilt is so cute! I always seem to run out of spoons. We have our second grand due July 24 but they don't want to know the sex. I do! Angela

  4. How sweet that Bobby and Sheena included grandparents at the ultrasound. Love Andie's pics with the balloons.
I'm going to have to hunt down some extra forks and spoons. I couldn't figure out why we're always short, I do dishes a couple times a day and we still run out. Then I saw Silas toss his lunch fork in the trash with his napkin...

  9. That quilt is fabulous - what a beautiful gift for your son! Love your thrift finds...you did great on finding that Oneida silverware. I have a set but paid full price years ago. It wears very well. You always find the cutest kids clothes too, and in such good shape. Grandchild #7...wow! You are very blessed. How sweet that Andie will have a little sister.

I love your quilt! I've never seen that idea before but I really like it!
Great find with the silverware. I picked some up a while back. I don't have a dishwasher so I poured boiling water over them to disinfect. :-)
Your new material is really interesting. I can't wait to see what you make with it.
I sure enjoyed your post. Thanks for stopping by my place for a visit. :-)

  14. Rhonda how exciting! I have two little granddaughters and they are the light of my life. Girls are rare in our family. The ratio of girls to boys is about 1:5, so a girl is always an extra celebration here! Your quilt is so beautiful. What a talent you have there...and patience. The silverware looks great and that panel of fabric really appeals to my vintage self. I'm seeing some framed on the kitchen wall, and some turned into serviettes and placemats for a fun vintage Ladies Lunch. Love...Mimi xxx
