August #1 - hoping for a great month

Hello everyone
Here are before and after photos of the front flower beds

The mock orange bushes were too tall, the crinums were turning into monster size bulbs and the bulbs that have bloomed needed trimmed.
In the other bed,  the volunteer zinnias were overtaking the sidewalk.

Now the bushes are trimmed and unwanted things were removed

And people can safely walk on the sidewalk without tripping on zinnias.
3 grands were here and they helped fill up trash bags with the clippings and they made bouquets  from the zinnias.

Those zinnias were hiding this pretty plant that is currently in full bloom

Today,  I did one more big Walmart grocery pickup and I think we should be good for quite awhile,  come what may 🀷🏻‍♀️
The frozen things and paper good had already been put away before I took this photo

We live in a college town and the students will be returning soon.  They wipe out the grocery stores every August so with the other shortages we’ve had,  I’m trying to be ahead of any possible future shortages or shut downs.

This kindle  book is free on Amazon right now- the price could change so be careful if you don’t want to spend money,
If you need to live off strictly pantry items,  this book has very easy recipes to make all kinds of family meals.

Hope you’re all having a good weekend

  5. I am glad they saved the zinnias and put them to good use. I wonder if there will even be enough for the college kids.

  6. Your flower beds look great! That is on my list to tackle this week. It has been so hot that they are out of control.

I did a big stock up at the end of July. It always feels good when the pantry is full.

  7. Oh your flowerbeds look lovely! Great job!
So you live in a college town too. Great job stocking up.
I always try to stay out of Walmart esp during the month of August. I think this year will be worse than ever.
The news said that no college football would be a 70 million dollar hit to our communities. They are hoping for some games but I don't see how that can work with the virus spreading.
    Stay safe!

  8. Such beautiful flowers, Rhonda. That's a good idea to stock up before the college students return to town.

  9. Always nice to neat-things-up. Especially rogue flowers. ~smile~

Wow, you should be stocked up! good for you!

I hope that this Wuhan Virus pandemic has taught people, to always have a "Well Stocked Pantry" as it were. A good lesson learned, from a HORRRIBLE happening.

  10. Wow, that was a nice clean up of the front beds! I am thinking of stocking up now too...In fact I have two sales ads pulled up in case anything looks worthy of a trip to get the items needed. And we don't have college students!
