Let’s get my home back in shape

Good morning Homemakers
First here is my to do list for the week

It’s different than how I usually do it.  And I’ll explain.  Because every room in our home needs more than just some vacuuming and dusting,  I listed each room and my plan is tackle each room and then as I get it back right,  I’ll move to another room.
This is what all the rooms looked like Sunday afternoon

I took all these photos in about 3 minutes and Ducky followed me from room to room.

The bathrooms and laundry room also need attention, but really, who wants to see a messy bathroom?

I hope I can get lots done but last week, I was slowed way down with a cranky back.  It’s been feeling fine the last 2 days but I’ll be careful and if it flares up, I’ll have to stop.

My plan is to do floors, dusting, wash bedding as needed and deal with clutter in every room.

Anyone else starting  this week after Thanksgiving with a messy house?  πŸ˜§πŸ˜§πŸ˜§
I’ll check back in soon…….

  1. I was in the same situation but had more of the occasional cleaning chores that had been neglected before Thanksgiving. I had been recovering from foot surgery and the minimum was getting done. We tackled most of it though before our family arrived and it really makes a difference. Good luck.

  2. Just caught up with your Branson trip and the housekeeping list! Branson sounded wonderful and the photo of you two was great! It is rare that my husband and I have a photo together, I am usually the photographer…
On the housecleaning front, luckily I had guests over for thanksgiving and so I went on a binge to get everything clean and organized for that…now this week my to do list is tiny! Woohoo! We had a huge list of exterior work to do on our home this year, all is done except one final thing. I am having a company come and clean the outside and inside of all our windows! He is also replacing the bug screens as needed. I compared quotes and he was half the cost of other firms and 1/3 the cost of rescreening, plus he was referred by a friend who could vouch for his work! That is happening mid December then we are done! I did the windows last year myself and it is worth the $160 to pay this guy to do it! Love your blog, and by the way, I use the links you post to other blogs every day, very helpful, thank you.

  3. That is quite a list. We have a lot of cleaning to do this week as well after having family here for Thanksgiving. It seems that everything I touch is sticky from grandchildren hands. We loved having them here but just need to ut things to right.

  4. Love the list, it is inspiring. I really like the buffalo check theme you have throughout the house. So cheerful.

  5. My house never really stays clean for long. I seem to be cleaning messes up all the time.

I do like how you list things.

    God bless.

  6. Hi! So glad to find my way back to your blog. Yes, messy house after Thanksgiving here, too. Before, also, but after, more.

    1. Me too. Her before looks better than any after photo I've taken in my house. As she says, "you do stuff, stuff gets done." I think about that a lot, especially as the opposite- "you don't do stuff, stuff doesn't get done."

  8. I love making to do lists and getting things checked off. I get way more done in a day with a to do list.

  9. So nice to find your post this morning...

We were solo for Thanksgiving, so not as much mess...but yours doesn't look too bad either! I love your lists...it always inspires me to do more.

Looks like you had a great anniversary/vacation...and the pic of you two was so good! Love your long hair!

I am thankful for your blog...feels like visiting with a friend...

  10. I'm reading this on Jan. 1 2022. I didn't have time to do much of anything in Dec. due to work and grandchildren sitting and all the holiday things.
This weekend I pressure canned meat and soup and stock. We are in the midst of a winter storm and this helped keep the old farmhouse warm.

My next goal is to get back to my quilting.
    Happy New Year.
