Tuesday's shopping for the week

Hello again.  I have done almost no couponing or bargain shopping during April but I'm getting back to it.  I have a new financial goal and careful grocery shopping is one way we will reach it.
Above and below is what I bought at Walmart.
The string cheese are my husbands favorite snack.
Most of the other things are things we use and I stocked up on because of Ibotta deals
Ibotta is an app that refunds your money for buying specific things.

I always check the Walmart day old bread-

Below is my Walmart receipt.
The cheese was a great deal.  Each bag had a $1 coupon attached so that made their purchase price just $1.38 - and youll see below that Ibotta gave me back $1 for each bag so the final cost as .38 for 1/2 pound of cheese

At Aldi,  I bought produce and a few ingredients we need.
The mini doughnuts and strawberries were a snack to take to my parents when my brother and3 grands were there.
The 1 pound boxes of Spring Mix are my favorite salad base.  1 pound is a lot of salad too!

I shopped at Dollar General and used 3 digital coupons from their app.
The bleach is from their dollar aisle and is a great price for bleach.  I am not brand loyal on bleach and I do use it on all white loads to sanitize kitchen towels, cloth napkins, washcloths,
also undies and handkerchiefs and cleaning rags.

I think $6.65 was a very low out of pocket purchase, especially for things we use often.

these are the digital coupons I used there.
They change often so if you shop there,  always check the app the day you shop.

When I got home,  I entered my receipts on to a few apps that give cash back or you can earn gift cards.  This part goes very fast,.

The Walmart receipt goes on SavingsCatcher

My big earner  was Ibotta.   Before I shopped, it did take a while to plan my shopping around their deals.  They have hundreds of deals but I only picked these as they at things we use and need.

The McCormick refund included the 3 Frenchs mustards.

I also entered my receipts onto Receipt Hog and Receipt Pal.
They don't have referral credit but if you search in your app store,  you will find them.
You won't earn fast but they truly take just seconds to enter your receipts.   I say when things take so little effort to save a few dollars,  do them.

I also used Fetch which I've posted about earlier.

I looked on Savings Start and Checkout 51 but didn't have any new offers to get credit for today.
I did see on Checkout 51 that I had previously earned enough to cash out so I requested a check be mailed to me.

I get it that some people don't want to do all these apps but I think most of readers are always trying to stretch their dollars and all these apps and careful shopping at multiple stores can be ways to do that.

I apologize to readers in other countries as I think these apps are all USA only.

I do have an Ibotta referral code,  I think if you use my code and are a first time ibotta use,  you will get $10 for signing up and doing your first purchase.

If you got this far,  thanks for reading and I hope my tips help you if you want to do some super penny pinching.

First week of May- cooking, fun with grandchildren, yard sale haul and my decluttering and organizing project

lets try this post again.  I just noticed that even though I thought it was published right,  most of the words were missing and the photos were posted twice.

One Sunday we wanted something sweet for breakfast so I baked a batch of Streusel Puffs.
I've been baking this recipe close 50 years.  My mom found the recipe in a women's magazine and I baked them for a 4H food show, and won a purple ribbon for them.
And I've been baking them ever since.

they are a very basic recipe- and only use standard pantry ingredients but they taste so good.

Six of our grands were here last week.
They really had fun with the old kitchen tools from the rummage sale.

they are great sand box toys!  and Ducky can't chew them up.

2 of the grandsons saw a youtube video about using a bottle to make a Jello duplicate of it.
this is what it was supposed to look like----

and this is what ours looked like.  I do not recommend doing this but the boys had fun.

3 of the grands had a joint birthday party so I made a tray full of fresh fruit skewers.

I don't know how many I made.  I just kept making them until I used up all the fruit.  The tray was heavy but there were no leftovers after the party.  Its just fun to eat fruit on a stick and no silverware is required.

My son and I went to his neighborhood's yard sales.
My dad wanted an electric skillet and we found this small, like new one for $3.  He was happy and I am sure he be making lots hamburgers and fried pies in it.

an organizelr and some scented wax

I think this rainbow spoon is a work of art, it was .25.

My biggest purchase were these Longaberger baskets.

They were such bargains.
The women selling them said they belonged to her aunt who passed last year.  The seller said she had no emotional attachment to the baskets.  She was just happy I bought them all.

This one is not Longaberger but is just about a duplicate and I love the shape

My big project is organizing this crazy craft and sewing room.  Yes I know it is a lot of stuff but I took these pictures almost 2 weeks ago and it doesn't look this at all now.   Ill have the after photos soon.  There is still a little more to do.

Yikes!  I know........

I'm sorry about the previous wacky posts- technology just does what it wants sometimes,  right?

Sewing, meals and a big yard sale haul- really long post

One of my April goals was to sew these 15 pairs of sleeping shorts.  I did finish them and they came in very handy.
Our son in law had to go to Washington D.C. for work, it was a 5 day trip over a weekend and our daughter was able to go too.
Their 3 children didn’t go.  They have 2 other sets of grandparents who helped with them and we had them for 3 overnight stays.
They children loved picking out their shirts and shorts at bedtime and I didn’t have to fiddle with matching them all up.

These 3 love fruit so we made 2 fruit trays before they got here.  These made meal time so easy- I just needed to add a main course and vegetable.

For one meal when their great grandparents also joined us,  I baked a simple layer cake.  It was a big hit.
Cake makes a meal more like a party.

More Kitchen doings——-

A sandwich box and as soon as I make it,  my husband made himself a sandwich.

This supper started out as a head of cabbage, some leftover baked potatoes and smoked pork from the freezer.

It’s not a pretty meal but it was delicious- stir fried cabbage, hash browns and pork.

This meal was Salmon patties, sautéed fresh spinach and baked sweet potato cubes.

Pigs in a blanket, Caesar salad and fruit -

We’ve ate one watermelon this spring and it was so good - it was a seedless one from Aldi.  I’ve since bought a second one and I hope it’s the same.

My son and I went to 3 rummage sales early this morning.  We bought most of this at a church sale, it was so organized and priced low.

He got the stool for $5 and the cow painting for .25

At a different sale, I got the 3 big things- $3 scooter, $5 shopping buggy, $5 riding toy and  the .25 tool box was at the church sale.

Look how much the tiger riding toy sells for on Amazon 😳

These metal kitchen things are mostly for sandbox toys.  Our sweet puppy has been chewing on the plastic sandbox toys but I don’t think he can chew up these. Most of them were .05 each except the 2 bigger pans were .50

The square is a Pampered Chef stoneware baking dish .50
I think the Oneida pottery clover canister will look for St. Patrick’s Day.

More miscellaneous

And more- the box of beads has so many beads in it.
I’ve looked at the Operation game but it may be a dud- the parts are so so tiny.

The basket and 2 big planters were .75 each
The big bowl was .50 and I think the whisk broom was .10.

2 pair of like new shorts for a grandson .50 each

And 8 crocheted dish cloths- never used- for .10 each

Ducky got a .25 Olaf toy

I hope all of you are fine  and that you liked seeing what I’ve been sewing, cooking and buying.
